Problem TOPO Australia missing in action!

I have or had TOPO Australia on data card, has been working fine, but has now disapeared off my choices in map info? I have had it linked to my PC in mapsource & mapinstall. Only had it for a week! Dont know where its gone or how to get it back? Any help. Another thing, I have tried to register the program with no success, does not show up on the dropdown choices.

There's no reason the Garmin topo won't work with the 276C, but it won't hold the whole dataset as they have limited memory and use Garmin proprietary cards, which are expensive and limited to 512Mb maximum from memory, and did I say EXPENSIVE?

Great. I'll just upload vic/nsw/qld if possible (or whatever combination). I know the cards are expensive but I think the unit's pros are worth it.
Thanks again.

After spending 11 days in the outback with my Zumo 550, I was quite happy with it. Only realised that it only holds routes for week so I have losted the first 5 days. Oh well thats life.
My only real quarm is I think that TOPO Australia should be better. Towns were not where they should have been and roads were off centre or missing completely. Roads that were in my Motorcycle Atlas were not on the Zumo. Just a little dissapointed.
The MP3 component was great. Excellent to have a soundtrack as riding along. Still finding out more things about all the time.
I will be keen to see the update.

La fletche, the displayed information is dependent on the zoom level and detail settings in the unit. I've seen more than one person despair over the road and track display, only to be relieved when I show them to turn up the detail to maximum and zoom in some more then presto! the tracks appear.
I hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here.

Not at all, could have been the problem but I am unsure, will have to wait until the next Birdsville ride.

If you have Topo Australia on a SD card in your zumo and City Navigator on the internal memory (standard maps) and both are selected (ticked) then only City Navigator will display.

To display Topo Australia you need to unselect (untick) City Navigator

OSM data another free map set

Another free map set that I have just started using is the OSM data. They seem to have a fair few tracks and trails in them that aren't in shonky or some of the others. It all depends on how active some of the contributors are in your area.

http://www.openstreetmap.org/

There is an Australian site that runs the data every night and you can download routeable or non-routeable state files from them.

http://www.osmaustralia.org/index.php

The more people that add routes to these the better they'll get.

Burnie PM'd me with his answer so I presumed he didn't want to make whatever that was public. I'll leave it up to Burnie as he knows best.

But a good question at last, thank you - I can now rest on my laurels.

So Burnie,

what about all your customers who have been asking the question since July or so? Do we get an answer or is it private?

You know, I can remember a bespectacled fellow who was the GPSOZ employee of the month, oh how times have changed.

So the question is, does either OZtopo or Garmin TOPO maps show minor tracks and trails above the 700m zoom level.

City Nav version 7 that I have plus later versions I think show no minor track detail above 700M (regardless of detail settings). This means you have to zoom right in to see if any tracks exist! It drives me absolutly crazy especially when using the gpsmap 60cx etc as you have to zoom in so far and then slowy scroll around to find what tracks are around you..

Hope this makes sense to people and I have not completly gone insane...

Yes, both OZtopo v2 and Topo Australia will show the minor roads to a higher zoom level (up to 3km if you set the detail to most).
