Quick loop around the neighborhood

Been working a lot and needed a break last Sunday so I took a quick 60 mile ride around da hood.

Headed up the road thinking I'd just do the half hour ride but a bit too much mud on my usual local ride. I've got Scorpions on the SE at the moment and they aren't much use holding up a 400 pound V twin in the mud... go figure. So I headed the opposite direction on a road with much more gravel in it. I turned south just a little way east of the entrance to Missouri Headwaters state park and wandered in the general direction of Madison Buffalo Jump.

This is just a short ways south of I-90 underpass

As you can see it was a bit iffy to the south but to the east it was pretty decent weather.

So to the east I went... well okay maybe half a mile to the east but still... and then a bit more south. This is Madison Buffalo Jump. The Native Americans used to stampede the buffalo off this cliff. Rumour has it that the noobs in the tribe were made to stand at the bottom and catch them. I could see some value in adopting great traditions like this... only we make the politicians stand at the bottom and catch.

I don't know if that was a controlled burn or if someone did something stupid but it burned a pretty good sized area.

These are the views to the west and southwest from there

If this bike doesn't bring x-rated thoughts to mind, you may qualify for government disability payments

Unexpected bonus... a scene right out of National Geographic or Discovery Channel, I got to watch some sandhill cranes doing the mating dance thing. It was pretty f'n cool.

Farther into the rain and a bit of snow spitting now and then, down to the Greycliff fishing area on the Madison river

Obligatory erotic scenery photo

Heading back towards home on Rt 287 as the snow gets closer

Of course the closer I got to home, the better the weather got... it was nearly 50F again by the time I got back.

Once home I had a legit excuse for a long hot bath... I get pretty spoiled by the GS and the fruits in my fruit-of-the-looms get mighty frosty hanging out there in the wind on the KTM!

Well if you're really tall and have the heft to wrestle 400 lbs, it's fantastic.

I have the heft but not the height :p

Still, don't think I'll ever part with it voluntarily.

You can see with a Renazco seat adding 1" to an already tall bike, getting on is a bit of a chore for a fat old guy with short legs

Hey Dan,

You are having way too much fun with that SE!! Looks like your Sunday was nice but like mine you had to try and dodge the weather. Looks like some great riding!!! Great photos too. Thanks for sharing.

I still get up early when not working but today I was prepping for work and thought I'd check in.

all the best,

TC

I'll have to hide the trials bike... I mean c'mon, the GS and SE I'll share but some things a guy's gotta keep to himself

Of course first you have to dig out up there, non?
