Garmin 478 and Blue Tooth
I have a 478 and love it along with the XM capability.
My question is for anyone doing blue tooth with the 478...what and how are you doing it and specifically with what products. I would want stereo capabilities for the XM radio. Any comments would be appreciated. |

I maybe did not clearly state what I'm looking for.
I know the 478 has an ear phone jack. I'm curious if there is something that will plug into the earphone jack to send wireless out to wireless ear buds or headphones in a helmet and if so what are people using. I'm trying to avoid the ear phone cord. |

Do a google for "wireless audio transmitter" or "universal bluetooth transmitter" .
Doing that turned up a Jabra A120s which looks like what you are looking for.

Thanks Hotspice.
![]() It looks like what I'm thinking of. Only concern might be water resistance with some of the devices. Nothing a zip lock baggie won't handle. Appreciate the response. |

I've used the Jabra unit with my 478 for quite a while. Before that I used it with a Sirius unit. The 478 allows me to combine radio and GPS, plus it's waterproof. The Jabra A120 will last through a charge all day, better than my headset. You cannot charge the Jabra and operate at the same time, though. Have your hardwired option available if you ride long hours.
It's worked well for me, but my ER-6's provide better sound than any headset I've found.

The reason I bumped this thread is that with the Scala G4 and the coming SENA's, which are stereo Bluetooth, bike communications is getting pretty interesting.

I have this:
http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/pdf/sk4000 Connects to my Blackberry via BT for phone and MP3's (works great). With a 478 on the way and a BT Dongle plugged in to the audio out it will be interesting to see if the SK4000 will connect to it and my BB for XM. If that doesn't work maybe the Scala G4 will? I would like to replace the speakers with ear plug speakers since I imagine that would reduce road/wind noise so I wouldn't need the volume at 11. |

I think the coming SENA will have capability to use ear buds instead of helmet speakers. The other question I'd have is whether the "priority" of these devices would be right. E.G. if I'm listening to my iPhone's music through stereo bluetooth, and my 478 GPS needs to give me turning directions, will the system let the GPS overide the music? |
