Russia from Saint-Petersburg to Vladivostok
Search for travel companion, because at July-August 2009 am going to ride across the Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, from Saint-Petersburg to Vladivostok on route: SAINT-PETERSBURG-BELARUS-UKRAINE-CRIMEA-ROSTOV-VOLGOGRAD-SARATOV-SAMARA-UFA-CHELYABINSK-NOVOSIBIRSK-KEMEROVO-TAISHETH-IRKUTSK-CHITA-BIROBIDJAN-VLADIVOSTOK (the route will be correct else). If I couldn't find suitable enduro, maybe it's used to be travel by russian oldtime classic "Dnepr-650" or "Ural-750" (like WWII wermacht BMW R-12/R-71).
Now there is my plan:
July 2 - drive out of Saint-Petersburg on Ukraine (through Belarus), in Glukhov (Ukraine) on bikefest "North Lands", then in Sevastopol (Crimea) on bikefest "Night Wolwes MG".
Untill July 8 rest in Crimea (sea, sun, vine, girls), then in Samara to my friends
July 17-19 Kemerovo (bikefest "Full Throttle")
July 24-26 Irkutsk (bikefest "Baikal Coast")
August 7-9 Vladivostok (bikefest "Face to ocean") or Nakhodka (bikefest "On edge of the Land"), afterwards home
Think, all will be OK. The dates of beginning and end the trip unchangeble on the strength of different circumstances. I'm limited in money, so i'll be try to spare: live in tent, neither expensive meal nor expensive drink etc. I think, budget of the trip + return ticket from Vladivostok to Moskow will be about 90 000 rubles (2000 euro).
Back in Saint-Petersburg in any case by plane, bike by railroad.
My average speed by "Dnepr" is 70-90 km/h, day run is 600-700 km (easy mode), 800-900 km (hard mode).
My drive temp - from morning to evening with break on leading-in and dinner. If it's hard for you to run at a "speed" of "Dnepr", it's possible to fix point of the meeting to sleep beforehand (GPS).
Now on me: not a bore, sigarettes - smoke (sometimes), vodka - drink, sing a songs, play on harp, know a lot of fun stories, if it's necessary - can read the verse, lecture or fairytale on night:-) Try to be autonomous, nobody disturb, and repair my bike themselves. Speak English (so-so), German (schlecht).
I think, it is necessary to be going to go than sooner that better - while Siberia and Far East not become "someone else" territory or next russian revolution did not started. And the years will passing through - while it's will be possible to ride there again. So it is necessary to hurry.
Yours, Slava aka "Africa",
