another...

Posted this in the other GIVI thread at the top of the page but just in case...

Another key blank that is supposed to work is:
ILCO X226/HYD12

I haven't found it, or the other ILCO mentioned in the other thread but I came across this either here on ADV or the sport touring board. It's supposed to be a snowmobile key.

I brought my key and my case (on the back of my bike) to a nearby locksmith. He had to slightly modify a blank he had, but he was able to make me a couple of spares, and they were only a couple dollars each.

If you go this route, make sure you have the case so the guy can check to make sure it works.

He noted that it's the same key as used by a couple of scooters... Vespa, maybe?

I was able to get spares (already keyed not blanks) at Twisted Throttle.

You can get GiVi key blanks from Twisted Throttle or any GiVi dealer.

Note that key blanks by themselves are not available for the V46 and E52, but come as a set with a cylinder lock (part number: Z661). Why? Beats me!

I'm trying to locate an Ilco X226 key blank locally to see it it really matches my E52 Maxia key. No luck so far.

Key Blanks for the V46 and E52 are listed as part #Z661G in the Givi catalog.

Call 1-(877) 679-GIVI for information.

Thanks for that useful bit of info!

Importations Thibault, the Canadian distributor for GiVi didn't even know that. They e-mailed me the part number for the cylinder/key combo when I asked for a key blank. Edited to add: I was just about to jot down that part number on my "to do/get" notepad and there I see I had already jotted down part number 076-Z661G. I wonder where I got that? The Importations Thibault site shows that part number as a "complete key set", whatever they mean by "complete".

I have a Givi blank and for the life of me can't find any key shop who can copy it. Somethign about the one side of the key being reversed.

Got My Key

GOT MY KEY. I just looked up the number for GIVI on the net, located in N.C. called they sent me a key for $8, took it to ACE Hardware with the old key and they cut it for me, at no charge.

Ilco X132

Just looked at some spare keys that I had cut 10 years ago. They are the ILCO X132 blank. Have been using them for years. They definitely work and weren't any more than $2/each.

Givi

Givi - $4.00 Givi luggage using codes 001 to 210.

Motorcyclekeys.com

certain mailbox keys will work as well, however they will be single sided so the key can only go in one way as opposed to the original GIVI keys.
