For some reason, Americans hold onto this ideal that Europeans are racially/socially progressive. I've spent most of my adult life living in Europe, and found this sentiment to be anything but true. They have just as many issues as we have. As long as there are people, stupid ones will exist.

German men are so f*cking dumb.
In the interest of fairness, it did sound like his wife didn't beleive it either.

Yes, but you had to be there. Actually, this guy was particularly stupid - I wanted to buy the bike, wanted to go straight to the ATM to do a bank transfer as a deposit, and he refused. He wanted cash. I slept on it and decided not to buy it. His loss.

Maybe he did you a favor then by letting you know he was stupid up front, before you had to learn the hard way what stupid thing he did to the bike that was going to cost you money later.

Quite nice of him I think.

In other words, he proved to be a gentleman of worth, elegant and courteous, distinguished and gallant. No?

I'll bet there's a guy with a porsche saying this to someone on a porsche forum about me.

I pulled into a gas station, saw a porsche that had 57 speed on the plate, I asked him what years that porsche made the 'speedster' as it was logo'd, he looked at me like I was an Idiot, and said 'it's brand new'.
Rear engine, front fuel tank, aircooled 4 (there's nothing that sounds like them) I looked at him and just said, wow, it looks like a 447.

He ignored me and drove off.

some guy was concerned that I was lifting the gas vapor recovery boot while pumping gas. I had to waste my breath explaining to him why.

My question would have been "what's a gas vapor recovery boot?"
We don't have 'em in NY.

It keeps the gas vapors coming out of your tank from escaping and polluting the air.

Fuel pump foreskin.

Today I got "You know it's gonna snow tonight, right?"
It's not snowing now, it might be snowing on my way home, but the roads are dry and I have gear.

Oh, I hated those vapor recovery pumps. I'm so glad Maryland didn't mandate it (surprising considering the other stupid stuff the gov has done) and that they faded away.
