He thought he was right, you thought he was wrong and now that you realize that he wasn't, it's not important anymore to talk about it?

The fact that the "report" is right or not has nothing to do with the whole story. But it still exists and a man read it and used this to start a conversation.

But hey, he dared to talk against your brand so he didn't deserve you to stay seated near him.

Brand snobism at its best.

Oh FFS. Really? I sit down to enjoy a nice meal by myself, and the first thing that some old dude tells me is basically how shit my bike is. Is that brand snobbism? I just decided to quietly pick up my stuff, and move somewhere else, because I really didn't feel like getting into it with some Wierd old stranger. Just like i really don't feel like getting into it with you.

Was sitting at a gas station with my ZX10 and a Harley pulls up, the passenger looked at my bike and asked, "Why do you ride such a small bike, 1000cc's....thats an awfully small engine".

I just replied "yep".

Right, and you could have answered, "and it will look even smaller as you see me disappear into the distance". Lol.

Oh, the ignorance about other motorcycles, it burns a little.

Have to share my only HD experience here.

I ride a 2000 BM R1100RT. The guy I was riding with was on a 1996 BMW R1100RT.

We pull in for gas in true HD country. There is a guy parked off to the side on a customized HD sportster than has an extended fork at the least.

The guy walks over to the pumps to talk to us which kinda surprised me.

He tells me that he likes the BMW, but he could never afford one. The guy I am with says " LOL.....I bet you have more in that HD than I have in my BMW." we end up talking for about half an hour. REALLY nice guy, and a heart of gold (volunteers for the shelter, donates to good people, etc). He was surprised to find out that I paid very little for my RT, and the other guy even less. I seriously doubt that he sold his bike to buy a BMW, as he had a REALLY nice HD, (for me, that's hard to say, but honestly he had a HD that I would proudly ride daily) but I think he got a good idea that we all ride what we have, what we can afford, and what we find comfortable.

I've had the same thing said to me. I'm waiting to leave the gas station with a friend of mine that has a very nice Road King, when a sidewalk commando stops, stares at the Road King, then swivels his gaze at my FJ 1200 and drawls "1200, huh? Gotta be a lot slower than that there bike" All I could do was grin and say "Yep, hope I can keep up."

took my nine-year-old daughter out for a ride on my (sparkly bronze) vespa today while the sun was out. i stopped in to get some gas when a pair of bros rolled up in their f-150.

"nice scooter...f*ggot!" the passsenger told us.

"thanks!" i said cheerfully, and ignored them while i finished pumping gas.

i loaded my daughter on the back. "dad, what's a 'f*ggot?'" she asked.

"a person with a nice scooter, sweetie," i told her.

in retrospect, telling her that might have been a bad idea if i ever take her to a scooter rally.

That's ridiculous that someone would be that much of an asshole. Never ceases to amaze me.

Right. You are the "faggot" but they are the ones riding around together?

I'm betting the scooter folk would be 100% understanding.

And I'm willing to bet you daughter would be a lot more understanding than which you give her credit.

joke; joke! (the impliction was that a nine-year-old girl cheerfully addressing scooterista with that slur, assuming it was friendly, seems a bit awkward.) i have explained gay folk to her previous and she is quite understanding of them. i just didn't feel like going over an unpleasant and inappropriate slur and its extremely unfortunate history on account of US HAVING A NICE DAY.
