"when you gonna get a real bike?" Probably meaning why I'm not on a HD.

I have been waiting for that question put to me for the past 20 years. To which I'd answer: "well, let's see. My bike is faster, quicker, handles better, brakes better, can carry more load, can knock out a 500 mile day like nothing, and now at 178,000 miles with no internal engine work or issues has never failed me. I'd call that a real bike myself."

But doofusses that ask that question can't handle the facts.

178,00 miles, what are you riding? I am always looking for my next high mileage commuter, I ride at least 750 miles a week just getting to and from work.

Actually, it a 94 BMW R1100RS, an early 94 model before BMW added the leaner fuel mixture that caused the surging issues. Mine never surged, still on the original final drive, fuel pump, master cylinder, etc, etc. These older oilheads are really reliable especially if you do ride them daily. I know a gal in Texas that has near to 400,000 on her 94 R1100RS.

The RS is a unsung classic of BMW, and older models can be found for cheap! They are tough, reliable, and easy to maintain. Or, if you want a real cheap reliable BMW, get the first year R1100R. Plain and simple, and can be found cheap. They get over 45mpg at steady commuting driving, clean, quiet, maybe not the best looking but rock reliable.

Just be aware, that BMW bikes, like other German vehicles, actually do better when regularly ridden. A pristine 20 year old BMW with "low miles", meaning less than 20k, may have issues just because it was not regularly exercised.

PM me if you have any specific questions.

"What is Harley doing?"

"So, do you ride a bike?"

Actually, yes, I have two and one motorcycle.

"So, do you have a scooter?"

Right - because I'm wearing heels, a dress and a half helmet... Or carrying a yoga mat and groceries.

The whole dress thing always makes me crazy. Guys change out of workout gear into suits at work all the time. Why is it so shocking that we might change out of riding gear into dresses?

When I worked in Miami I took my scooter to the grocery store all the time.
Of course no one there looks twice because they are common there.

Here in WV, not so much.
Mine still wears the Florida tags, because it doesn't need to be plated here.

Folks ask if I rode it from FL. I tell them sure and pick some random date that I left about 4-5 months ago.
But told them it only cost me $12 to get all the way to WV on it.

Really? Cause scooters are as numerous as cock roaches around here. Really slow, pain in the ass, cock roaches. Pretty much anyone that's got a DUI has one.
