GXM 30 Cable length?

How long is the Garmin GXM 30 Cable?

Is it long enough to go from the gauge area to the tail?

The extension cable is 6 ft.

Depends on the bike and routing.

The cable on my GXM30 is just over 3ft. But as jkam noted there is an optional Extension Cable for it that is 6ft. That should get you to the back of the bike for just about any "normal" install.

Great! More stuff to buy!

I've got a luggage plate on the back of my GS that I was thinking about mounting the GXM on.

Would any USB extension cable work? I'm pretty sure I can pick one at Satples.

Well, no. You must have a USB "mini-B" Male to Female Extension. Just take your GXM30 with you when you go looking for the cable.

I have a question about where to mount the antenna. Does it have to be out in the open, or would an underseat location work?

Mine came with the flange mount. I used heavy duty Velcro to attach it and I can remove it and put it on another vehicle using another piece of Velcro.

RAM also makes a mount.
