Tricopter.

Gyro stabilized, soon to be sporting an AP2000i and FMA IR copilot.

Once that's all dialed in, I will strap one of these on it.

Luckily no breakage, but I found out today just how NOT suitable the CX2 is an a mild breeze. It appeared to be damn near dead calm out. The bosses yard flags were barely moving. SO, out comes the CX. Flying between my and my neighbors house; all is well. Run her up to about 30-40 ft; all is not well. The air is moving a lot more up there. I got quite a work out avoiding the house and various yard obstacles before I got her back on terafirma.

Note to self - MUST be dead calm for the CX to taken out side or to any height!

Sweet, cRAsH, is that a kit or home-built?

Home built - thin plywood and hardwood. ~$10.
The basic design is from this thread.

Once I get the whole thing sorted and get good at flying it, I'll build another frame out of CF.

Sorry! Didn't mean to blow anybody off with non replys to questions about the Storch..... getting old I guess, and I can't remember everywhere I post...

There is a build thread started over on Rcuniverse.com, but it's been dormant for a couple of weeks. Sounds like the plane has a couple of minor issues but what ARF dosen't.

I haven't really thought about it because I've been trying to re-learn to fly a helo. I ordered and got a Parkzone T-28, and got about 5 flights on it before the FOB here shut me down. "No R/C Airplanes" they said, and as we all know a helicopter isn't an airplane. One of the other guys here had bought a Trex 450, the first flight of which lasted about 15 seconds. I bought the remains and have been flying it successfully ever since. Well, hovering, and I'm working up to nose in. With the flybar weights on and wood main blades, the 450 is really a very good trainer. It feels as stable as my .30 hawk did, at least what I remember of it. I'd like to get a scale fuse on it eventually, but I think that will have to wait untill I get comfortable with foward flight.

I still can't believe how small and cheap RC helicopters have gotten in the last 10 years.
