I'm guessing that he knows how to ride that thing...

Not many girls want to ride on the back of a sumo, especially if it doesn't have pegs...

Yet, no tire marks on the pavement. I'd expect to see some darker marks from the tire if it is spun up and drifting sideways.

No, the rear is definitely sliding, he's backing it in a bit for the camera.
(That means engine braking, not throttle or locked brakes)
It won't leave very dark marks with street tires.

Interesting placement for the topcase... on the pillion seat? Or is that just the angle of the photo?

Clutch in. I would wager rear brake applied.

I think its the angle looks like there is a small bag on the pillion seat.

She's got a huge smile on her face. It makes sense to put it there especially if you are never going to carry pax. It puts the weight in a more sensible place, a place that was actually designed to carry a significant amount of weight. When you put it back on the typical racks that have it past the rear wheel's axle it's possibly the worst spot to put extra weight on a bike.

But the topcase has got to be one of the most useful luggage items I own so I'm willing to take that hit. I'd think of doing something like that if I didn't use my pax seat for other luggage

Then again it could be camera angle. Looking at the pic again it looks like she's got something strapped to the seat behind her. A pair of shoes or something.

What, no left foot out skimming the tarmac? All the cool SuMo kids do that when they back it in just before they break their leg.
