I think its the angle looks like there is a small bag on the pillion seat.

She's got a huge smile on her face. It makes sense to put it there especially if you are never going to carry pax. It puts the weight in a more sensible place, a place that was actually designed to carry a significant amount of weight. When you put it back on the typical racks that have it past the rear wheel's axle it's possibly the worst spot to put extra weight on a bike.

But the topcase has got to be one of the most useful luggage items I own so I'm willing to take that hit. I'd think of doing something like that if I didn't use my pax seat for other luggage

Then again it could be camera angle. Looking at the pic again it looks like she's got something strapped to the seat behind her. A pair of shoes or something.

Yeah, I wasn't criticizing. I think it's actually a brilliant idea to mount a topcase on the passenger seat if no one is going to be sitting there.

I just couldn't tell if it was mounted on the seat, or behind it. It does look like she's got a small bag (tankbag) on the sea behind her.

If he doesn't have a slipper clutch, he's got to back it in by slipping the clutch, otherwise he would be wheelhopping like crazy.

Clutch lever looks firmly planted against the bars.
Wheelhop? My brother "backs in " his TL1000 all the time with no wheel hop I wish I had his bballs and talent.
But the guy in the pic looks like he's skidding for the camera so it looks like he's got skillz

TL1000 weighs a bit more than a DRZ, got that mass to sling you around with just brake or throttle

I see Beto is to the rescue.

It is a good idea to mount the load carrier above the rear axle instead of way behind it. When I started to outfit my /5 for long trips I got a solo seat for me and put a big rack over the pillion area for toting gear. And for shorter trips it will carry a topcase nicely.

I've seen that truck (or similar trucks) on the Dragon before. I'm sure that there is a story behind it (and them).
