Also the wood you see on the footpeg was just an extension I made out of a piece of firewood to get me home. The original aluminum ones were pieces of junk, and the steel ones I made out of a pair of bmx pegs were narrow enough that it killed my knees getting around the 6-gallon tanks and onto those narrow pegs, so I improvised. Nobody likes sore knees on a kick-only bike.
welcome, like the bike. where do you call home?

Yeah, I feel like a dork. But only when I walk into the office or the grocery. I never think about while I'm riding. And I am way past riding a bike to pick up girls. So I don't really care.

Same with the white helmet. I used to be into the cool graphics. Then I went riding behind a friend through back roads in the Hudson Valley. I could see his white helmet bobbing around every corner and over every hill. It sold me.

Did my annual run over the Dragon today. Won't do it again this summer unless I have to go to Maryville or Knoxville. Rode my Ural with two other Urals over on the gravel road (FR 71) that parallels the Cherohala to Tellico Plains. Then rode Highways 360, 411, 27 to US129.

Started on the TN side at the overlook.

Finished on the NC side at the Deal's Gap Store.
Light traffic but I did use the turn out three times to let faster bikes past.

Your BMW has some dirt on it... obvious FAIL.

I'm sure you will be receiving a strongly-worded letter from the BMW Markenauftritt und Ruf Division (Brand Appearance and Reputation Division), notifying you that you are in apparent breach of the Upkeep Claus of the BMW Rider Agreement, and that possible legal action is possible due to your negligence. Please be home tomorrow between the hours of 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to sign for the registered letter.

I don't know what world you live in, but my BMW's get washed maybe twice a year...as do most of my friends. A reasonably clean windshield and I'm good to go.
