I saw at least a dozen crashes at Deals Gap on Saturday. This video was shot on a different day but shows what it was like:

That looks like fun!

Say what you will about Deals Gap and the Dragon, but everytime I have stopped by and run the Dragon I have met someone interesting. Last year I stayed at the motel for a night with a buddy and we had a blast. It was like a mini rally, hanging out in the parking lot around the campfire kicking tires and swapping lies with your new best friends.

You are absolutely right. I spent 2 nights camping at Deals Gap and made several runs down to the overlook and back. Traffic was pretty light and I made a few runs without running into any traffic. On one run I came up behind traffic several times, and they ALL used the turnouts and let me by Unfortunately there was at least one LEO present at all times. On saturday I saw a State trooper riding his Harley at around 7:30 AM. I rode through around 7:30 PM and he was still riding his Harley. Same guy, what a job.

Here's some pics I took while we're waiting for Killboy's next batch.

Killboys store. I think he's mostly responsible for providing goofy tourist names for the local roads.

Some Dragons:

.

Candidate for Killboy's highlights

Lots of interesting people there. There was a large tour group on Harleys with PA an Wi tags. Typical pirate outfits of course. They were from China on a US tour. They where taking lots of pics so they could go back to China and tell everyone they "slew the Dragon"

Hanging out at the overlook two Harleys pulled in with riders in typical pirate costume. The illusion of the typical pirate was shattered when one started talking with an Australian accent. They had shipped their bikes to LA, ridden, not trailered to Deals Gap, and were headed to Milwaukee before heading back to LA. Didn't get their pic but did get this 52 Caddy:

For those looking for a fail, there's still road construction and single lane traffic between the overlook and the lake at the bottom.

Speaking of fails, I heard there were 2 bad accidents on Friday including one fatality.

Last year our Eastern Owners Meet was based out of Hendersonville NC. My buddy and I had ridden backroads all the way from SE Ohio and by the time we got there, my back tire was near toast.

The organizer had made a deal with Harpers Cycle to have a few extra sets of tires available. Turns out Continental did a special deal on their Road Attack 2 GT's where you bought the rear and got the front for free.

Done and done.

Harpers had the Conti rep do a presentation and had a few bikes out front. One of which was a regular at the Parking lot Grand Prix.

Kick ass. Owned by the service manager (hella nice guy).

Great dealership and the Conti's were fantastic right out of the box (no release agent!)

I didn't shoot any video and couldn't find any from this past weekend. I tried taking some pics but most of them didn't come out. Here's a few pics.

.

This little kid was having a blast riding around the track before the racing started.

The Fiddies where so fast my camera just caught a blur.

The scene at night when the racing took place.

These Fiddies would most likely be a blast on 129 but they are not street legal. Here's something just a little bigger and street legal It looks like it would be a blast to ride around here.

It used to happen all the time but with all the LEOs around now it would be a big risk. I remember seeing people run their race bikes with no plates, no lights and slicks on the gap. There was never a cop around then either.

Didn't see this one mentioned.

Yes they are fast. Yes they are expensive, and if you live in the states, no you can't have one.
