First time I ever had to deploy the towing eye bolt on my VW Jetta it took me a few tries to realize it was a left-hand thread. Pretty frustrating sitting there in the snow and sub-zero temps trying to figure out why I couldn't get it to thread in. Why the fuck would an engineer decide to use a left-hand thread in that application? Is it some sick German sense of humor, or are they all that way for some reason?
