This photo makes me cringe.

Could be better gear on both the riders... so fail there

He could have not strayed across the line but this isn't really one to sweat. The long camera lens shortens distance. Speeds seem to be reasonable slow as well. The approaching rider is looking into the curve at the open lane, the one moving away is moving over nicely and all is good. Everyone seems relaxed. What is the problem? This is how I have always experienced traffic on roads like this in WNC and all along secondary roads in the Appalachian Mtns for decades.

The pistol, irrelevant for the most part for this discussion.

I'm impressed that you could tell all that from a still photograph. Is CSI hiring?

You may not be wrong. Notice that his jacket is lower everywhere else. He may have gotten his jacked snagged there and didn't notice that it was exposed.

I landed on a guardrail and didn't lose a kidney. Thank God for good gear.

All those tears were from the vertical i-beam that supports the guard rail. It sliced my jacked up, but only left me with scratches.

The pistol didn't do any damage at all. But I'm not telling where that was. I will say, however, that it was not on my waist.
