I think It's time these folks start carrying insurance for the accidents they cause.
What kind of accidents have you seen bicyclists cause on winding rural roadways?

PS I refuse to continue to debate this dumbass concept.
What he said. I stopped to keep from rear ending a stopped mail truck coming out of a blind corner one time. Then a motorcyclist rear ended me. My insurance company said he was clearly at fault for driving faster than his sightline would allow him to react. I was like no way man. Totally my fault for being stopped in the road where he wanted to drive recklessly.

You think you would have time to see the vehicle, then see the sign on the tailgate, then because of that sign process that it may be moving slowly, then react, before your spatial senses told you it was moving slowly?

Fascinating.

It's just getting worse. We've got a foot of snow where I am, damn near every business and school is closed, and our high temp is going to be negative tomorrow and tuesday. Our winters haven't seen this much snow in years, maybe decades.

We're forecast to see single digits down here in the deep south. Don't you just love this Global Warming

Holding doors for people, please and thank you, and moving to the right for faster traffic, slowly all becoming lost concepts.

The folks on bikes are (generally) human beings and there is a large percentage of human beings who are asshats whether they are driving a truck, a car, a motorcycle, a tractor, or a horse-drawn buggy, or are walking for that matter (You should see my wife go ballistic over the stop-and-chat shoppers blocking entire aisles in the grocery.). Why would anyone expect bicyclists to be any different?

Never saw a shopping cart accident in a store that caused a death!

The stakes are much higher on the road, and just like motorcycles, you might be in the right, but the law of gross tonnage can not be ignored!

Your wife and I would get along. I try to do my shopping at night so I don't have to deal with these clueless idiots.

Back on track, sort of. On my first trip to the Dragon I took a backpack with a couple day's worth of clothes, and foolishly thought I could get a room at DGMR. Of course it was booked up, so I ended up going down the road to Fontana Resort and paying way too much for only needing a bed and shower. Here is the view standing on the deck of my cabin.

.

Phillips motel. Robinsville, clean, cheap last I was there 3 or 4 years ago.

I have smartened up, and stay away from the circus, and ride the better roads in the area, away from the "had to layer down" and the "public race track" and "bowling for bikes" crowd.

Ummm...you do know that when it's winter here, it's summer in the southern hemisphere...right? Parts of Australia have seen brutal heatwaves recently.. Weather isn't climate, BTW.

Is it time for a Global Warming debate here??? doG, we must be bored!
