They're either super expensive or cheap and of questionable quality... I tried one of the BILT explorers with the sunshade, it was thin and flimsy even compared to my Icon.

Here is the problem. If we go and post most of the good photos in one sitting the day they come out, then odds are that folks are not going back a couple of pages into those images to discuss them. Why don't we get back into the habit of posting a couple of photos at a time and discussing them, instead of all at one time. And a BIG bunch of photos in one post is a PITA for those of us who don't have a high-speed connection...

'K?

Off topic but did you see the new maytag wash board they came out with in the latest sears catalog? It is on page 26 right next to the new wagon wheels.
Yep. You're bored. Almost 25 messages and not one Dragon photo. Here, have some more.

The BILT is crap. My wife has one, and I thought it was the cat's meow until I started helmet shopping for myself. The FF's at Bob's BMW in MD showed me a Schuberth. Just when they were convinced that I wasn't going to shell out that kind of dough for a helmet, the told me to take it for a test ride. I did, and one hour later I was buying it. Night and day difference.

My son just got a Bell RS-1 and it is a pretty decent helmet. We had this same discussion about clear shields, sunglasses, tinted shields etc. I pushed him to explore the self tinting shield Bell offers. (it was his $120 afterall). He baulked at the price but then I reminded him of the shield for my Shoei is $80. We did several afternoon into evening rides and he found the sunglasses while nice became a nuisance as the afternoon wore on, with some dark shadows and then riding into the setting sun and then dark spots again. He finally got the expensive shield and as was recently said, it is the Cat's meow. It changes quickly, he has worn it day and night, sun and storms, commuting and track and life is good again. I wish for the same option for the Shoei as I have ridden home in the dark with the lightly tinted one more than once.

I think the BILT Explorer has got to be the most uncomfortable helmet I have ever tried on. I wear a size large in pretty much every helmet but had to go to a XL to get the BILT on my head. Instant headache from pressure on my forehead and the back of my head. It is definitely for someone with a really spherical head and not a long oval like mine.

BILT is Cyclegear's store brand, and is crap in my opinion too.
They recently opened a new store near me and had an open house. I went and checked it out and decided to buy a new pair of offroad shin-guards. I have had some Thor's, that I bought at dealer years ago, for under $20. They have lasted just fine, but figured it would be time to buy a new set.

I bought some BILT ones that were on sale for $10, marked down from $20, for the open house. Figured they would be relatively the same quality as the Thor ones I got at the dealer. They were not and actually started falling apart before I ever got to use them once...just after trying them on with the boots I ride with.
BILT is probably a brand I will never buy again.

Here we should stop and commemorate 1000 pages of utter crap and derision. Thousands and thousands of hours have been lost. Members banned then returned. Threats of shutting down this unholy waste of time then put aside so we might waste more hours. Panties wadded then unwadded.

May the next thousand pages be more useful please.
