should the kill cord not be fitted on to the kill switch? like quad bike and stuff and it could be for his radio or his airbag sutie

Based on the location of the cord, I'm pretty sure it's an airbag vest/jacket. I wear a hit Air safety vest and it's similar. Except his cord is too long...

I took this pic yesterday afternoon in NC on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

It was at an elevation of 5,000-6,000 feet, and the little bit of snow was melting fast, though.
