Dragging knee in full leathers at a relatively slow (i.e. not race) pace is safer by far than commuting on , say, the i95. By the way, cornering at that speed is actually made SAFER by dragging a knee, but I don't guess you care to know anything about high performance riding

It's ok not to like things.

But don't be a dick about it
I commute in Dallas. I also watch the news. Pretty much a death a week for the first two months of summer, and one every other month the rest of the year. I don't think dickboy there could handle that. Drinking coffee, listening to a story about a rider death, right there where you're driving in about 30 minutes...

We call the 183/121 split the "death zone". There's usually at least one a month there, and it's less than two miles from my house. I hate living in a big city.

I lived in Austin for a while. Commuting there is dangerous as hell for motorcycles too.

Here in the DC area, not only are the drivers oblivious, but they're jerks as well. I've had drivers ACTIVELY seek to hit me for the "crime" of attempting to pass them.

I went passed a guy to get into a left turn lane once. He was stopped 20 feet short of the car in front of him, keeping me from getting into the lane. I used about 10 feet of the shoulder to bypass him and get into the turn lane i wanted, and he freaked out. Got out of his car and started walking toward me screaming about how he was gonna kick my ass.

When faced with a situation like that, i briefly weighed my options (pull my CCW piece, or check for traffic and if clear, run the light to get away from the looney)... I chose the second option since traffic was clear

How or why is this in your mind risking either life?

I just don't see it.

All a grows man needs to do is ask himself, "Would I feel comfortable if the passenger was my daughter? Would I rip the balls off and kill the fricking squid if he injured her?"

Well, would you?
Most men feel part of their job is to protect the women in their lives...
At least the Harley guys do...
It is more clear to me now that I know that you ride a GEEZER Glide and have likely forgotten anything you ever knew about motorcycles that can actually lean farther than 30 degrees and be just fine.

In answer to your question. YES! Hell YES, I would be just fine with it if that was my daughter in the picture. (She would likely be on her own bike however and be the one with the knee down)

I find it funny how anyone could think that putting a flat surfaced tire on a vehicle that leans to turn could be anything but idiocy.

The Dumbsider forum is over there somewhere.

Been there done that and not proud of it.

Yet when some squid decides to use a puclic road as a test track "with a young lady on the back" it is excusable as both are smart enough to be able to "choose their own fate."

Looks like they are just out having fun. You obviously know little about riding on twisty roads......except maybe at a snails pace.

By the way, I once was racing on the street and hit a car which ran a red light. Her fault but.... I wouldn't have hit her if I hadn't been speeding.... my fault. The first thing I thought of and remember to this day is thinking "what if my wife or one of my children had been with me?" Because a long time ago, I had done the same thing with them along.

If you had been riding faster you would have beat that car through the intersection and avoided that accident.

Bottom line is, she trusts him with her life and he is doing a shitty job of protecting it.

Maybe they should just stay home, sit on the couch, eat lots of candy and watch reruns of desperate housewives. Then he would be "protecting" her. Then in a few years they will both get fat and develope heart problems. Will that make you happy?

(and a lot of what I said earlier was sarcasm )
Have you actually ever ridden Deal's Gap? or any twisty road? Or maybe you have but it scared you. News Flash, some people actually enjoy riding twisty roads at a fun pace and have the skills to do it reasonably safely. Who are you to say they are going at an unsafe pace?

What in that photo equates to "doing a shitty job of protecting it" (?)

That is what it meant back in the 70's and no wishing can change it.

And what's with this, "You mean riding a bike? On a road? With a passenge?"
Damn... I wish I had a nickle for every time I have had to listen to this lame ass captain obvious crap.
Yeah. We all accept the risk... What you just start riding and figure it out?

You see, I don't give a crap what his skill level is.
He doesn't know what may be on the road around the next corner. He doesn't know who may veer into his lane. He has no idea what may dart out in front of him.
These are all reasons why racing is held on a close course where these variables can be managed.

Bottom line is; "how do you think he would feel after crashing and taking her life?"

Do you think he would enjoy the smug self-certainty you credit him with.
Don't think so.

He is placing her life in danger and either too stupid or too careless or too immature to care. Not only is he a SQUID, he is a dangerous SQUID.

I'd kill the mofo if he was riding like that and crashed with my daughter on the back. And I think most father's would feel the same way.

Cept for Sally. He would get his wife to kill him.
I didn't realize 2BB's was still alive and kickin.

Yep. It sucks. Two weeks ago a guy pulled into my lane from a dead stop, causing me to swerve to avoid rear ending him. After I went by, he honked and tailgated me for 3/4 mile, then passed me and cut it so close I had to brake to avoid him. Im in the far right lane this whole time. So after he tries to kill me, he takes a left exit. I think he followed me to try it.
