I have a long range IMS tank off a TTR250 that will fit and probably hold more fuel than the current '84 XR250 tank I have fitted.

Subject to finances and the boss's approval, i have been thinking of heading out from rockhampton to the races on the postie bike.
would be nice to catch up with a few adv riders out there or even along the road...

Here's the most likely route we are taking ex Brisbane. Some travelling on bikes, some in cars

Day 1 Monday, Brisbane to Roma via Benarkin, Yarraman, Maidenwell, Jandowae
Alternate road Brisbane to Roma via Yarraman, Maidenwell, Bunya Mt, Dalby, Condamine 575 km
Day 2 Tuesday Roma to Quilpie via Charleville, Cheepie 478 km: alternate last section Charleville to Quilpie via Old Quilpie Road
Day 3 Wednesday Quilpie to Windorah via highway: 247 km, alternate via Adavale, Araluen, Old Tampoon Hotel 315 km
Day 4 Thursday Windorah to Birdsville 380km

Day 5 Friday Birdsville Races 0km

Day 6 Saturday Birdsville Races 0km
Day 7 Sunday Birdsville to Innamincka via Walkers Crossing Track 340 km

Day 8 Monday Innamincka to Eulo via Thargomindah 495 km

Day 9 Tuesday Eulo to Nindigully via Cunnamulla, Goodooga, Hebel, Dirranbandi 554 km
Day 10 Wednesday Nindigully to Brisbane via Goondiwindi, Inglewood, Leyburn, Ma Ma Creek, Fernvale 566 km

Approx 3700 km total

If you can't make Birdsville then save up for an Outback Queensland Postie Pub Crawl early next year about March. Approx. 1200-1500km in 7 days

at this stage i'll be in Windorah late wednesday arfternoon. i'll find somehwere to camp i guess.
and then out to birdsville thrusday and fight for a camping spot along the river bank area.

leave sunday and head bach to windorah and then i think i'll run up to stonehenge muttaburra way.

The middle island at Windorah seems to be the most sought after camp spot. Bodies everywhere several years ago when I went through the day after the party. In Birdsville we plan to camp on the river bank, maybe we should try and make a time and place to meet up, no phone coverage to speak of.

oh and would an XR600 fuel tank fit? can get my hands onto one for the trip.

its a prick but the xr600 will not fit, i tried to fit a 350 but it was too big
