Waimak Ride Canterbury (testing images embed)

Hi guys I was lucky enough to get down to the river not once but twice today, the first ride was a quick ride at 0730 this morning. Headed to the gate by top gun paintball
got there at about 0800 to find it still locked up. Ranger must have had a sleep in! Headed back up the road to Weedons rd and back down to the river bank that way.
Did the single tracks down to the issac's gate and home in time to look after the kids for a couple of hours.

At about 1330 I had some free time so I headed back to the river, This time I wanted to see if I could get back down from Intake rd, the litte metal bridge helped get me across the water race. And I was off.

Having been inspired this week by Marks Thread
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317350

Remove the ear plugs and mirrors( which out of interest makes the bike feel heaps smaller) and light the fires

Which way to go, they all look so tempting.Lots of entrainment to be had

Open and fast or tight and slow it's all here.

Thought it might have been you that rode past. I was swinging a chainsaw in a paddock on the side of the Old West Coast Road, one side road (Thompsons Rd) short of Intake Road. Seems the 950 Adv sensors are well trained, for some reason I looked from sawing to see you ride past. Maybe it was the sound from the wings

Seeing as you are using a GPS grab the route file from my website and ride the river from the Waimak Gorge Bridge to Mcleans Island. It is only one of multiple routes for the lower part of the Waimak as you have discovered. Alternatively you can do the "Waimak Loop". Up one side, across the Gorge Bridge and down the other - you will need the north and south waimak files from my site.

Cheers R

Cheers R

You've got a 17inch rear hoop haven't you? The E09 doesnt come in any wider than 130 in an 18" size if I remember correctly, bit narrow for the standard 18" rim. I'm running a 140/80-17 E09 on the Super Ten and am impressed. Sufficient traction for most of the east coast gravel roads and tracks and seems to be wearing well.

I've got the latest version of Mapsource here at work and all seems to work fine. If you right click on the link and click save target as to download a file (save it on your PC). Make sure you change the extension from .xml to .gpx if you use internet explorer. Now the file should open straight away with MapSource.

Might have to help you scrub in the new tyres next weekend (probably sunday). I'll see how the domestic duties list is looking later in the week.

Cheers R

So BB, are you keen for a ride on Sunday morning? I see on KB that you have got your new tyres. Maybe a lap of the Waimak? Should take about 3-4 hours.

Cheers R

Peg Pub (Belfast) at end of motorway at 9am. Up the south side and back down the northern side. Might be a bit damp, the weather isnt looking that good. My Bro (on an XTZ as well) might join us as well.

Cheers R
