The "Easy" day

We were planning on riding to Chicken Corners and then to somewhere else so I wore my heavier street pants and only had half a camelback and way too much crap in in top box. The other guys dressed a bit too warm too, and didn't bring much water, since it was going to be an easy ride.

We stopped for a minute and for some reason we thought Kane Creek canyon sounded like a good idea.

About half the trail is pretty easy but the further you go, the harder it gets.

Roger and I stopped and took off as much gear as possible.

This trail is a blast and has some amazing terrain. Sand, Water, Rocks, water, rocks, sand, rocks..you get the idea. Like what happens on most rides, we never stopped and photographed the gnarly sections.

There was plenty of traffic on this trail. We stopped to wait for some Jeeps and a group of ATV's came past us and I asked one guy what laid ahead of us and he gave my a great bit of info that would have made the trail real tough if I hadn't found out about it!

When you get to this climb where this Jeep is almost tipping over, take a left down to a small parking area and the ATV/Bike trail take a different path from there.

Stuck!

Kane Creek continued..

And that is about all the photos I took. After this the trail got down to business and we were all hot, tired and thirsty. Our main goal was to get out of the canyon without getting hurt. There was one gnarly hill that I tried and failed on, and we had a group of impatient Jeepers hot on our tail, so I took the top box off my bike and Bill bounced his way to the top of the hill.

We made it back to the parking lot and cruise on past everyone that was airing up and loading trailers and hopped on the highway and blasted back to town.

Some of the best pictures I've seen, and it's not just the subject matter. The lighting, color saturation... great stuff.

Thanks everyone for the image comments! There are a ton more photos to post and the other guys have some great photos too. Its always cool when you have a bunch or people taking photos because you get different perspectives and see things from different angles etc.

I hauled around an Olympus E3 DSLR with 3 lenses and managed to get a few good shots with it but most of the time it was stashed in my top box. Most of the photos you are seeing were taken with my Canon S70. I like the image quality of it, but its not a very good design for dual sport riding. Roger carried a Fujifilm S1000FD, Nate had my old Sony and Billhad my Canon SD1000.

I uploaded a few of Nates (the Governor ) photos and I'll post a few that lead up to where we are now.

Wheres Waldo?

Schafer trail

Kane Creek canyon

rokklym - Note the fender on the tire, yeah I had fork oil all over the bike when we got there so my front suspension was pretty much worthless.

Great pics Nate!!
