2009 Rally West Virginia Date Change

To all ralliers:

Please note that the dates for 2009 Rally West Virginia are moving to one week later than originally published. The new dates are Aug 7-8, 2009. This is being changed to accomdate some local resourses, and to minimize conflicts with some other events in the region.

Thanks and hope to see you there!

Still considering, weighing, calculating, etc. on many things. We'll make an announcement or put the supps out early enough with time for everyone to see. I gotta focus on the final road an facility details for now.

Anything in particular that is interesting you, Boatman?

And....FWIW.....let's not talk about 'dead' ! Makes me worried! And reminds me of a small rally many years ago, where we were 2nd on the road. We passed the 1st car on the road repairing a problem, and arrived at the finish control a mile later. They asked us about car1, and I said "They're back there about a mile, dead on the road...." Man, you should have seen how big the rallymaster's eyes got!! It took a few moments to calm him down and explain 'no they're not dead, it's the car....'

Regards,
Mark B.

Hi Mark,

I think Boatman is probably most concerned about the cost more than anything and the conversations that I've had with other Rallymoto guys basically returns the same feedback. The only other issue that was of concern was if the bikes will actually run a typical rally with timing, transits and no "Shakedown with Marcel" Don't get me wrong, Marcel is great, but he drives slow

I'm not trying to start a big fight (as usual), just letting you know what I'm hearing. I know 5 guys that have talked about staying home that weekend and that's about 10% right? I'm on the fence myself actually.

for me its cost and whether rules will be lived to. As in timing penalties, road points, etc etc.

Thanks Aaron, I appreciate the kindly put info and input. Yeah, I figured the entry fee is the big thing, but I wanted to be clear, and so I asked. We finally got the 2009 Road Use/Repair costs from the WV DOH today so we can finally plug actual numbers in on that item. We are also working on a graduated rebate of entry fees if RallyMoto entries reach a certian number. To be fair, we need to do this for the rally car guys too, and also not end up being in a hole for the event, so I want to be careful before deciding anything.

Plans are to do this as a regulalr rally with transit timing this year for the RallyMoto participants. The reasons to not time transits last year were to try to get the rally workers used to Moto, and relieve the workload a bit with the short 30 seond intervals. The 'tour' thing was to get the RallyMoto competitors a chance to see these roads before runing them at speed. Funny you shoudl say Marcel is slow; in my experience, he si anything but that!

Thanks,
Mark B.
