Northern Laos october 2014

Hi everybody!

let me share my ride report from my last trip to Laos.

First of all, i'm Roro, from France, 28 years old, passionate by travel.

After working all summer, I decided to take a brake. Only two weeks free.... but that doesn't matter. It's better than nothing!

Why Laos :
- first because i never been
- second because it was easy to rent a bike.

So I bought my plane ticket from Paris to Vientiane and booked a bike with JULES CLASSIC RENTAL.

Itinerary :

1- Vientiane - Pak lai
2- Pak lai - Sainyabuli
3- Sainyabuli - Muang Ngeun - Pak Beng
4 - Pak Beng - Huay Xai
5- Huay Xai - Xieng Kok
6 - Xieng Kok - Muang Sing - Lunang Namtha
7 - Luang Namtha - Udomxai - Nong Khiaw
8- Nong Khiaw - Pak Xeng - Vieng Thong
9 - Muang Thong - Muang Kham
10 - Muang Kham - Luang Prabang
11- Luang Prabang - Vientiane

Me and the Honda XR 400

From Vietiane to Pak lai :
After meeting Laurent from Jules classic my ride start from Vientiane around 12am
first day of acclimatation with the bike.
I followed Mekong River to west and discovered laos countryside

Mekong River and Thailand

the bike

After some km, asphalt disapear

"ferry" to cross Mekong

it's raining season... I found a nice shelter, and waited...

Second day from Pak Lai to Sainyabuli

i woke up very early this day. there was a boat race. And my windows was just over the river.

After fast breakfast in guest house, I started to drive.

I crossed green hill and found some red track.

It was a nice peacefull day.

at sunset time, I found nice barbecue for dinner.
