Only runs on Windows 2000/XP/Vista [WHY? Its just a series of pdfs so it should have been easy to make it cross-platform. ]
Also says it requires IE 6.0 or higher. I haven't tried loading it yet, so I don't know if another browser will work.
Wow, they are already on a new number!

My PC has IE7 installed, but i never use it. I am a FireFox guy At any rate, the software pops up in its own 'browser' like window. It must use IE underneath, but you don't see it.

For Macs, if you use Paralells Desktop, it should be fine, or just use some other Windows emulator.

When I order it, I'll figure out to get it to work on a Mac w/o Parallels or another VM running Windows (if there's a way, I will find it). When I do, I'll make sure I post the how to here.

Pdf

If the root files are PDF you should be able to "explore" the disc and just grab the .pdf.
I did that with the 1150GS CD since I didn't want all the other languages on my laptop.

Fireproof box

As a fellow Montreal I've had some good experiences lately at Moto Inter. Starting to make me forget some of the bad ones from years past. DVD price is a little steep since they are already holding a 600$ deposit of mine on my new bags. Does it cover the new 650? If it did I could split the cost with a bud who just got one.

Yes. It covers bothe F8 and F650 GS, and all of the other F8 models [S, ST, R] It covers US and some other unidentified set of models.

I have an old MacBook with Boot Camp and Windows XP that I use for a few Mac-unfriendly programs [like updates to A/V firmware and software, programming remote controls, and GPS routes]. I'll use it for the repair manual if I can't figure out how to just use the pdfs directly on the Mac.

I went through the CD last night, and while there are a few .PDF files, there are many more in some other format. I didn't look at all obvious what you are looking at. I don't think that it would be that simple any more...

It is my first time at Moto Internationale, and the Sales and Parts have been good so far, but the Service and Management, meh, 50/50.

At the 1000k inspection, they didn't even put it on the computer, but it is on the form. I was hoping that they would because you are supposed to be able to have the alarm options changed at no charge, but they wanted to charge me an extra 20 minutes of labour. Of course I had some newbie who told me that the changes were not possible and the tech next to him was arguing with him that it was... Of course it is all on the DVD! But that was the day that they had an '08 F650GS with the gas gauge issue, and they had it there with the owner for over 9 hrs already, so I didn't push it. I will look into it next time (to add a beep when activating the alarm).

On the management side, the finance lady never asked my salary and called me back 30 mins after I left. Of course I had just walked in to a meeting with my team, and she wanted my salary over the phone WTF? Excuse me guys, I have to step out for a second...

Anyways, nonetheless, I booked a skills course with them, and the big cheese is one of the instructors. If I am lucky, I get to talk to him about some of my experiences

You can do this yourself. It's covered in the Alarm Manual. It's quite easy.

I placed an order with my dealer yesterday for a service DVD. F**king expensive at $113. Insane really, but I plan on owning the bike for a long time & don't feel right about not having a manual so I did it.

There was no mention of it not being available, I am supposed to receive it next week. I'll post an update.
