H,
I bought two R1100GS's and a R100GS/ParisDakar from a Motorrad owned by a guy called Eddie Klepp just outside Stuttgart in Germany.
All I had to go on was photos of the bikes, all three bikes arrived safe and sound in better condition than I'd thought they'd be.

Got in contact with Eddie through www.mobile.de.

I used "bebel" to translate to English btw.

Daithi.

Paperwork?

Hi everyone,

Time to stop dreaming on mobile.de and do something about it :-)

I'd like to buy a bike in Germany, ride around Europe (if time allows) and bring it back to Canada.

What are the requirements to register a bike in my name in Germany? Anything special/peculiar/should know since I'm a foreigner?

Thanks!
Chris

You should have a look here. Short answer: It's nearly impossible for a foreigner that isn't a resident to register a bike in Germany.
It might be easier to try and register it in Canada, if you want to take it there anyway.

Thanks Nightmarion for referring me to the thread about Geodesic's experience. It was quite the tale of heartbreak at the start but thanks to some amazing help from some generous locals, it had a more positive ending. The best thing is he's on the road!

Good to know there's some good people out there :-)

In the meantime I'll do a little more research on the Canadian import process and paperwork required, which is why I was thinking I needed to register the bike in my name over there...

Cheers,
Chris
