Akrapovic exhaust on F800GS

Well I was not planning on buying the Akrapovic exhaust for my F800 but last week the BMW mechanic called me up (friend of mine) asking if I would like one for more than half price ($400). I agreed and raced over the BMW.

So why did I get it so cheap?
The mechanic made a mistake and ordered the Akrapovic exhaust for a client who dropped his F800, the client got upset with him and did not want the Akrapovic exhaust (have no idea why!!!!!). He said he would take $400 bucks for it plus my stock exhaust.

So how is the exhaust?
All I can say is BEAUTIFUL. You can really feel the extra horse power. She hums and sounds even better than the stock pipe (liked that sound as well) and you can really feel the extra pull. Love the way it looks, feels, rides .......

So how does it look?

I assume you removed the baffle? I have one and like it better than any other exhaust I have heard on the F800.

BTW, I paid full pop for mine, and have no buyer's remorse.

BTW2, what tank bag is that? Manufacturer and part number please?

I doubt that. The psychological effect of the noise is probably causing your right hand to operate less sedately, thus giving you the impression of greater power.

The pipe does look good though.

Hey Tmex, whats this about the baffle, I have the Akropovic that was already fitted by the dealer as my bike was the dealer demo, how can I tell if is fitted or not, can you show us what it looks like.

How much louder is the exhaust without it?

Thanks

Crapovic

I think the stock exhaust looks nicer. I will trade you mine for the Akrapovic since you are a fellow Advrider....
When my dealer screws up I never seem to come out ahead.
Is it "loud"? I had a full Remus on my 1150 it it was just a tad over what I would consider neighbourly.

My dealer, San Diego BMW, delivered mine with the baffle removed and in a little plastic baggie. Check the documentation you got with the Akro. I never actually heard mine with the baffle (in the rear cone) installed. It is very mellow sounding without the baffle. Don't know about the sound with the baffle installed. It is not at all obnoxious without the baffle. Just sounds like a turbine.

With the baffle in the akro was quieter than the stock pipe. I took it out/takes 1 minute/and love the sound. Not half as loud as the remus. Look for the screw on the bottom at the very rear/take it out and pull out the baffle with anything that you can get a grip with. Took 1 good tug.

It looks great and is half the weight/doubt that it improves anything but the sound.

I really like the sound of the Akro exhaust. The demo bike at my dealer has it on. I can't justify the expense of it for the sound benefit. Would be great to see them half price instead of the $1000 the dealer is selling them for. I would consider it then.

$1k for a slip on is outrageous. They should call it a strap on, cuz they're bending you over when they put one on...

All without the benefit of a lubricant. I cannot help it. I am mesmerized by the sound. The $400 Remus "slip on" on my 12GS sounds "tinny" by comparison.

I got the Remus on my F800 - sounds nice and warm - not 'tinny' at all. It's VERY quiet with the baffle and has a nice bark with the baffle out. The can (titanium) does not get anywhere near as hot as the stock pipe.

No I have not, going to do this ASAP, thanks for the instructions Marty hill.
BTW The tankbag is a cortech super mini "strap mount"!

Do you mean the screw that has the rubber "button size" clip over it?
