Here, let me help you with the end of this sentence.........SOUTH!

Camp Milton 1175 Halsema Road, Jax
February 1864. Union forces depart occupied Jacksonville , heading toward the Suwannee River to destroy the railroad bridge there. En route, they met up with Confederate forces encamped at what is now known as Camp Milton Historic Preserve. After a small skirmish, Union Brigadier General Truman Seymour advanced his troops to the west, where, on February 20, they encountered a much larger Confederate army and were soundly defeated at the Battle of Olustee. After the Union troops retreated to Jacksonville , the Confederates returned to and fortified Camp Milton , which became the largest encampment of Confederate forces in Florida with over 8,000 troops. It is named after Florida 's Governor during the Civil War, John Milton.

Adventurous ride today. Planned my route, US17n to SR100w, to 309n to SR16w, to cr218w, to SR21n, to SR23n , to Chaffee n, to Old Plank w, to Halsema n.

Got 20+ miles up 309 and ran into this!

Asked a couple guys hunting in the area and they said about 5 miles of dirt and the beginning was the good section. Maybe on a sunny day, but the Tiller don't like mud. Backtrack to Palatka and take US17 up to Green Cove Springs and hit SR16. Hit rain from Pomona Park till Middleburg.
I knew it was coming, I pulled over in Pierson and took a picture.

280 miles today on a sportbike...in the rain...without rain gear...I'm feelin' it!
New tag in the next couple days.
Your friendly CFL sniper,
Steve

Thanks! Long day made even longer by having to backtrack 25+ miles!
I left the house this morning around 10:30am. I stopped for gas and McD on the south side of I-10 for about 20 minutes after the tag.
Made it home about 4:45pm. Again hit rain around Pomona Park and it got increasingly worse all the way to Deland.
My plan was to go get one of the CFL tags also, but I was cold and wet and just wanted to get home.
My biggest concern today?????
Getting home to get this posted before one of you guys did!

interesting place, I have never been there, will have to stop and see it on one of the trips in/out of FL. (Might even sneak in some time and snatch a tag)

Oh, I'm Tom lived in FL most of my life, now up in the NE mountains of Georgia.

Good job, Steve.

I wound up bailing on it anyway, going to Fernandina & St. Augustine instead. As I thought about where I thought it was, I wasn't sure enough to make the trip. Good thing, I was WAYYYY off.

Look forward to the new challenge.

Hmmm, I knew all too well that the Genesee river near Rochester NY flows north (if you drink from it in just the wrong spot it will taste just like Cream Ale ) but I thought I should just check on this "1 of 2 rivers" thing. Found this:

Bann Northern Ireland
Bighorn Wyoming and Montana, USA, 336 miles
Cauca Colombia, 597 miles
Deschutes Oregon, USA, 250 miles
Eel Northern California, USA, 78 miles
Erne Ireland and Northern Ireland, 60 miles
Essequibo Guyana, 600 miles
Genesee New York, USA, 144 miles

New Virginia and West Virginia, USA, 255 miles
Niagara Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, 39 miles.
Nile Africa, 4150 miles
Ob Russian Federation, 2289 miles
Oswego New York, USA, 24 miles
Otter Creek Vermont, USA, 75 miles
Pend Oreille Washington, USA, 62 miles
Red Minnesota, North Dakota, USA (into Canada), 318 miles
Richelieu Quebec, Canada, 208 miles
Saginaw Michigan, USA, 20 miles.
Saint Johns Florida, USA, 275 miles
San Pedro Mexico (into Arizona), 142 miles

When we refer to the World, we pretty much mean with in 50 miles..
Besides there is nothing really north or south of here
