Snowball is the local term for the huge mining district on the north west end of town. I'm not sure how many acres it is, but it has everything from fine powder, stream crossings, technical single track, hill climbs, descents, baby head sized rocks and mud! If you're interested in coming out, pm me your number I'll get you directions! The land is privately held, but since I'm a member of this great MC club, we have permission to ride there! I don't recommend going out there alone as you'll probably get hasseled by the LEO's.

Sounds good, but I'll probably be working. :(

That being said, I'd like to get a handle on how to get permission to ride on Snowball. I used to mountain bike back to Snowball on a trail that started by OCC and wound back thru on an old RR trail and across Lone Elm and into Snowball. I recall seeing an old Dodge 4x4 truck stuck in some trees where they had slid off the side of one hill and into the trees below.

I recall going a couple of times with the group from the bicycle shop. I had a silver GT Zaskar (I think). I guess that was back in '94 or 95 (I moved away the fall of 95).

It 'tis a small world after all.

The Snowball event is scheduled for 7:00 pm, so the temps. should be bearable. The club's agreement with the owner is that club members can ride with no problem. That said to be a member all that is necessary is to fill out an application and pay for dues (currently $6.00 till January '10).

Well I think it can officially be called hot around here. Temps are in the low to mid nineties with high humidity, and one week without rain.

I was tempted to take off the riding pants Saturday, but managed to remain ATGATT.

I probably need to find a good pair of riding pants with plenty of ventilation.

I wish I would have checked this thread before last Friday. I rode to Nevada Friday afternoon to camp with MoBill who is on his cross country trip. I'd a hollered.

A project deadline was moved up so it looks like I'll be working late all this week.

No riding for me this Thursday.

Be sure to post some pictures from the ride if you can.
