Wow,
amazing writeup.
Glad I'm sick and stuck indoors so I got to read it in one!
If I've got any balls I'll get out that way before I snuff it.
Many thanks for your well informative blog

Great RR

Many thanks for your beautiful report with great write up. Which camera and lenses you used? An which software you use to edit the pictures?

Thanks for the compliments guys.

I used a Canon T1i SLR and a SD950 point and shoot. I carried a 10-22 and a 18-200. For software it's mostly Lightroom.

Cheers

I was just looking for some info on Turkey and found this amazing ride report.

I just the best part of a day looking at through the incredible pictures and text. You've truly opened my eyes up to beautiful part of the world.

I'm wondering if you know some friends of mine from the ice, Don and Jill, who live in Denver.

Cheers

Jim

Maybe, McMurdo or Pole? What do they do? There have been quite a few Dons and Jills over the years :-)

Laugh

I am hooked already after the first page. You have a natural eye for photos, but I wonder if you could tell us what kind of camera? Digital or film? More details as some of your photos (many) are National Geographic quality.

Now, I will continue reading and looking!

Well - Don's off the ice, I guess. Jill --> Polar Field Services

Apart from the gas prices, did you find Turkey an expensive place to tour through?

Just completed your ride report from start to finish. If I have seen a finer RR on here, I do not recall. Thanks also for answering my camera question. I like that bike you have - have not heard of it before.

Thanks again!

So did I!

I am so glad bonzodg resurrected this dormant thread - I missed it first time around.
The wide-angle teaser shots on first page really caught my attention; from then, I was hooked.

These pictures throughout the whole thread have a wonderful color quality, so warm. Great RR!

I just left a note for my wife (it's late night here) that we have to do Turkey, maybe next year. And Bulgaria/Romania - I was there briefly well over 30 years ago and remember little. Your post reignited my wanderlust for that region. Gotta start planning now!

Thanks a lot, Boarder06!

And the 50cc Simson... now, that brings memories... sweet smell of two-stroke smoke, fouled sparkplugs, adventure, fun!

Hey guys,

Many thanks for the kudos. I'm glad I could provide a bit of inspiration :-)

As for Turkey prices, it's been a while but I don't remember being unduly stressed about money. Food is cheap, accommodation depends on what you are after.

My philosophy is that once I have decided to go to a place I try to find a good deal locally but to never compare prices from place A to place B. If I want to see the place there is nothing I can do about prices, I just try to avoid being ripped off. I hate it to run into travelers that keep complaining about prices and telling me that things are so much cheaper in, oh let's say India. They should have stayed at the cheap place then :-) It all depends on what is important to you. I have seen people complain loudly about the dual pricing for tourist attractions for foreigners in Turkey and I have seen these people turn around after they have traveled thousands of miles. Some of the same people can be seen drinking heavily later. It all depends on your priorities ;-)
