F650GS twin front brake issue
Hi all , I had my gs twin for a month now and never liked the feel of my front brake. The problem is not when I make agressive stops , the problem is when I'm slowing down gently to a full stop . When I do that , something doesn't sound or feel right. They squeel alot (that could be normal not sure) but when I'm at the last few feet I feel some vibration (as if somehting isn't straight and the grinding is intense (with the sqeeling). I have a little over 600Miles on it and brakes should be settled by now. Anyone else with a F650GS twin feel this? Is it normal ? Thoughts?
Thanks

Grinding is not normal. When you take it back in for the 600 mile service, tell them about the brakes.

Yeah, I agree something sounds hosed up.... Be sure to point it out, to service tech. I have 658 and think the brakes are just about perfect. |

Your brake probably has probem
I agree with the other responses,
My 650 twin is a bit over 2000 km, the brake works well so far - both straight line, into the bend. I always turn the ABS off. It never make any noices. Good suggestions for you to have it look at. |

Did you check all the bolts good? There is a recall on the front brake disc bolts.

break in! have you truly broken in the pads! my dealer told me to be easy on them in the beginning but to definitely "sinter" the pads! Sinter, what the hell is that... glad you asked.
To cause (metallic powder, for example) to form a coherent mass by heating without melting. v. intr. To form a coherent mass by heating without melting. basically you want to wear through that new brake pad shiat! heat them up and burn them down to get rid of that initial layer! If you are really feeling griding and not just getting the newnest of the pad, then certainly talk to the dealer. However, IMO you haven't worn the pads enough to smooth things out. Oh and the rotors need some wear too! Ride the Beatch! Wear her in a little and then report back in!

I have about 800miles on it done so far (200 more than last time) , are you saying I should make a few really hard braking on them to burn stuff up..makeem come really hot a few times?

hard brakes
Well for those of you who have been following , the hard braking did not help . I brought the bike to the dealer today for the 1000km and they will take a look at it. I'll keep you posted on the result in a few days...

650GS brakes
I have 2,500 miles on mine and have beat the hell out of it going off road in New Mexico and Arizona. No problem with the brakes, just wish I had more on-road stopping power up front. Brakes work great with the ABS turned off.
