Riding in FURNAS - AZORES

On the 24 of April, i went for another ride in São Miguel island-Azores, that woul take me to some very beautifull landscapes and provide me a very relaxing day on my bike.
I decided to take the roads of the north side of the island, crossing Ribeira Grande city and making my first stop at belvedere Santa Iria, where the view of the coast is fantastic :

After this quick stop, i got back on the mountain roads, where there was almost no cars on it, making my ride a very pleasant. These mountain roads, with all it's curves, are very good to develop riding skills.
Some kms ahead, another stop and another fantastic view, this time over Furnas valley:

This big lagoon on the picture was an active volcano many years ago and after it's last eruption, became this beautifull green lagoon.
For me, it's looks like paradise!

Everything is very greener on São Miguel island

Who's that guy???
Me

On roads like this, riding is pure joy!

After a few kms, i got my self on Furnas valley, where everything was very calm and quiet.
Only the noise of some water streams interrupts the silence of this valley.

But i didn't stay too long at Furnas valley and got back on the road to visit a very close village named Ribeira Quente.
On the road, nature provides us wonderfull views :

Next stop, Ribeira Quente

This village is near the sea and has a very nice beach.
My ride was getting very relaxing

But it was time to return back home
So the rest of my ride was towards home, but it didn't mean the end of fanatastic views over nature's wonder's :

Passing again in Furnas valley, a picture over fumaroles.
Furnas is volcanic, so there are some places that you still feel this kind of volcanic activity:

Leaving Furnas valley, you can see the lagoon:

The road is right next to the lagoon:

I made my way back home on the south roads of the island, where the most part of the roads are full of curves and outlined in mountains.
Very Nice!!!
On the way, a view over islet of Vila Franca do Campo, where in the Summer people get on a boat towards this islet to spend the day at it.
It is a very sunny place ang very good to get a very nice tan

And my ride ended at home.
It was another fantastic ride in the island where i live and hope you Adventure Riders like it.
São Miguel is pure nature and a fantastic place to ride your bike, where every moment on it's roads is pure pleasure.

Ride Safe!
