front wheel

I have had just a quick note about the front wheel.

If I had NOT chosen to use the original speedo drive, or modified the pickup, the tiger wheel would have been easily used with new left and right spacers, no need to go to the complexity of captive spacers and the speedo drive.

Also I have been told by one of the members on this site that a BMW GS wheel has the same disc to disc width, and also it has a disc diameter of 305mm vs 310 for the dl, so that also may be a simple swap, and its also tubeless so that may have been a better option???????

If anyone is giving it a go let me know, I'd love to hear the results.

update.....

Week off, girlfriends in town.....but

Headlights have been ordered from http://www.rallylights.com/default.aspx and are on their way, and hopefully I can get some more done on the rear end fairings and undertray. Once the lights arrive I'm super keen to get into it as I see heaps of design fun and problems to overcome......hehehe

I just checked out them lights, bloody expensive. $75 for 1 light and then $106 for postage of 1 light.

Did you find any sellers in aus for the same thing or something similar?

lights

Yup, expensive but they quote their shipping wrong, ended up at 40 us.

Got quoted a discounted price of 600 aus for both here in melb, ended up about 280 from overseas so ??????? who knows, didn't find many other options really, don't have that much time and a few people on this site are using something similar.......

subframe

Heaps done this weekend

Got the undertray glued up. I made some 90 degree brackets out of the 3mm ABS I have and glued them between the vertical and horizontal sections of the undertray. Took some modifying to make it all fit but at the moment looks ok, pics to follow.

The big news is the rear subframe. Got together with a mate and got most of it done.

First we split the subframe just behind the joins between the lower arms and the uppers. this allowed us to angle the upper arms inward to give a better (narrower) rear section that will fit the new rear tail light (triumph tiger).

Once we tig welded the uppers together we also attached a new rear section to mount the rjays top box bracket. I have used the top box a lot and it also forms a good back rest of the girlfriend so it became a must.

Hopefully you can see in the pics the mods we have done... the pcs have been taken at night, I'll try and get some better ones done tomorrow.

Speaking of, were getting together to weld on the new tail light bracket and helmet locks that have been removed to fit the battery holder cross members that were in some pics a few posts back.

Wink cont....

Got the headlights today, yahoo!!!!!

Have to get the rear end finished, its dragging a bit as I am super keen to get onto the front end, but them's the breaks.

The attached pic is the front forks I received and the ABS sheet that I'm using for the front and rear fairings, just so you see the size that were working from.

Hopefully the weekend will bring some more progress..........
