sunday ride

alright, how about this. folks from around boston/newton/cambridge, let's meet at greater boston motorsports at 9am on sunday. we can wait around for folks to show up for a bit and then head north to find some dirt.

i'm hoping/assuming at least one of us has a dirt route we can ride

here's my number: 617-877-3597

hopefully that time's alright. let's make it happen!

GF changed from a BBQ to breakfast, I think I'm sunk too!!!

BTW I rode around the area above Northeastern (Burlington) yesterday and it looks like they've tightened up the perimeter quite a bit. If you get in, you might want to stay clear of the airstrip for the remote controlled planes. It's usually very busy on Sunday's.

I think we should all get together and compare notes on places we can ride.
I'd be happy to offer my house in Lexington as a meeting place.
It'd be fun to see the looks on the neighbor's faces when you guys come riding in!

I'll try to get an exact location of the power lines I road in Chemsford last year. It's not long but at least it's dirt!

ashland checking in with an xl350. I'm busy the next couple of weeks with a wedding and honeymoon, but the nice thing is once that's over with I've got a lot of free weekends coming up.

I'll be out of town shortly so can't ride till late summer, but there are some great, legal off road riding areas a bit outside of town. Freetown state forest is really pretty nice.

Be Careful there! I have friends who were heavily fined and had their bikes impounded for riding there! Riding on the powerlines just about anywhere in Eastern MA is also illegal. You guys should head to Wrentham and Franklin state forests or to Hodges Dam in Oxford.

Best post here! I'm not sure about ADVRider but the Greenies and the local police and ELE monitor this areas dirt bike site ( www.nedirtbikes.com ) looking for places people ride and for groups heading out those areas to ride. As the state cut budgets for the law enforcement groups collecting fines has turned into a new cottage industry.

Yeah I saw that too, definatly alot tighter. I spoke to a woman on friday who belongs to a local community group (she was very nice, I was on my bike). Her group is in a lawsuit with the City of Boston over the use of the land. So it has brought alot more attention to the area. They also have a pretty good membership, with a member walking the property almost daily. The problem is that the land was deeded to the City of Boston to be used in perpertuaity as recreational space. Boston has recently been marketing the land as "For Sale" which has really caused the property to be under the watchfull eye. Northeastern owns an abutting piece that they have tried to sell, but the seller walked after being tied up for years in a lawsuit with the City of Woburn over permitting. I would stay away, especially if you are riding a plated bike. I loved that place as a teenager, good memories of my KX. I find as an adult it is harder and harder to find legitamate riding areas. Good idea on not posting locations, it'll be PM's for me from now on.
I'm up for a meet and greet this week. Anyone else?
