good lord that's a great price! maybe not a great sign for the motorcycle industry as a whole, but a great price nonetheless...

those are some great classic shots. you're getting some serious air there.

Isn't it? He's got a bunch of other husqvarnas for good prices as well. His shop moves bikes pretty well and i think MFG's tend to collect bikes that sat elsewhere and ended up as left-overs then send them to him. For a while he had CRF250X's and I think 450R's for under $4k and CBR1000RR's for something like 7k. All while I'm in school with no garage or cash of course:rant

Oh, and he ships (he mailed my CR to CO for me)

Well, more than the WR-R, less than say a KTM RFS motor or CRF/YZF/RMZ/KXF. I'd plan of frequent oil changes and probably check valve clearances twice a season or so untill you get a good feel for how much they move (or more likely don't). Valves are a tricky thing as its as dependent on rider as bike - spend all your time at red-line or above and you'll spend time adjusting valves a lot. Plunk around at say 75% of redline and below and they might not move before the next ice age. If its any help, husqvarna sold these as factory street legal and gave them a 2-year mfg warranty in AU where mfg's do such things.

Still, I wouldn't get it if a lot of street use is planned. Its made for riding hard and fast off road - the gearbox while a 6speed is fairly tight (as it should be for riding hard off road) and the motor isn't really intended to be run at the rpm that would be required to sustain freeway speeds for extended periods. So I wouldn't ride one on the road from here to DC like I do my DR, but I'd be happy doing dual sport rides on one.

If you'll be somewhat heavy on the street side the TE version may be preferable to the TXC version - its got FI and my guess is will use a little less fuel. It may have other features that would make it less hassle on the street as well - I'm not really sure. I do know that they are very nearly identical wrt motor/frame/bodywork.

That's a hell of a price for a bike nobody's ridden yet. Damn it.

A stock KDX is very quiet (but the one in NH has aftermarket exhaust) and I could start mine with my hand on the lever. I even crashed it off a ledge and into a frozen stream - the ice wasn't super thick and it punched though and died. That did make it harder to start than usual - took two kicks!

I found a 2005 KDX 200 with 70 miles on it for $1,500. The bike is mint, just not road legal (yet). A co-worker of my neighbors has it sitting in his basement. It hasn't been ridden in 2 years, the guy crashed and broke his hip right after buying it , while riding with his 6 year old. He apparently bounced off a tree and now wants nothing to do with the bike. He's agreed to hold onto it until after the holidays, then its mine. I figure I'll ride it, and then if the desire is still there I will work on getting it plated. I can't wait to ride the thing. Sitting on it feels like a montain bike with an engine. Super light!

Scott, I would love to make your wife happy and buy your bike, but I still need to figure out how to tell my wife about the KDX. She'll be pissed about the $1,500.....time to look for some overtime.

No worries Mark. I will just have to continue to make my wife happy all by myself

I tried to buy a KDX a month ago when I picked up the DRZ. It was already tagged and titled in MA, but the owner was very proud of it. I had several KDX's when I was younger, and they were always good to me. "A mountain bike with an engine"

So I picked up this lady the other day. It is a 2001 KTM LC4 400 with 2200 miles on the clock. Bought it from the original owner and he never took it off road. The bike is in perfect condition, and it sang to me when I went to look at it. It is a little light on power for my liking, but I like things that are a bit different from the everyday bikes you see (that's why I don't care for the DRZ too much, it's just a vanilla bike to me). Ive had it off road a little bit the other day when the mercury was hovering around 20 degrees!! Nice smooth bike with decent suspension And how many siver KTM's do you see on the trail.........................

Enjoy the snow storm coming tonight!

Congrats!

That's a really good looking bike!
I love my DRZ but can't agree with you more about it being plain.
The good part about them being plain is, they're cheap!

I'm sorry to say , that making a wife happy was always second to making me happy. "Honey, read the contract, me happy then you"

I wonder if that's why I've been divorced twice.....I wonder!
Divorce(s), two of the happiest days in my life!

EDIT:

I was looking up the specs on your new bike and came across this, which I'm sure you know about:

That things cool. Kinda ugly, but in a good way. Like Minnie Driver. I'd like to be first in line when you decide to sell that one!
