Gizmo Mill---->Road Rocketeer

Hi everyone!

We got a phone call today asking us to post here that formerly Gizmo Mill, now Road Rocketeer, is alive and providing customers with high quality modulated LED tail/brake lights. If you'd like to check out the website, you'll find our information there as well as the product listing.

www.roadrocketeer.com

Kind regards,
Road Rocketeer

Be careful with these guys. They go in and out of business like I change my socks. Note that their website says they aim to have their turn signals ready by winter 2008. Ummm, guys? It's spring 2009. Update much?

On the VStrom install page, they mention that their support page has fuller mounting instructions. No such instructions can be found. I asked them re this, and was assured that they'd be added in a week or so. This was about 6 months ago.

Everyone says the product is fine, and I'm sure it is. So as engineers, I guess they're OK. But as businesspeople with any commitment to customer service, huge failures. I mean HUGE failures.

and that KTM light "fits LC4 and LC8" is pretty rich..I'm pretty sure me slamming that unit into my casing with a hammer will void the warranty

I have one of their lights on my Concours (bought used) and it's great, but I hope it never needs service or replacement, and I'm carrying bulbs to replace it if necessary. I've never heard anything good about their customer service. To my eye, their site hasn't changed a bit in the last year.

Not surprised. I think these guys have zero business sense, despite their having what all say is a fine product.

I see that their website announces that their 800 numbers are "still temporarily out of service". That would make, what, 4 or 5 months? Temporarily? This says to me that their capitalization is so shaky that they can't afford an 800 line.

I would sympathize with the misfortunes of a bunch of entrepeneurs trying to get out a good product except for this company's inept and/or dishonest way of handling their problems, i.e., making them their customer's problems.

Can you say Touratech?

Ordered the Brake light from TT and got it in 4 days. 5 minute install on a 1150GSA and it is better than anything else out there, IMHO. Quit yer yammerin about their business sense and order one from TT and stand a better chance of survival from the cages!

The unit is apparently shipping out in the next day or two. I can't wait to try it out!

I ordered one for my 2008 R1200. Received it just fine then come to find out that I can't use it... I have the LED kit from BMW and these aren't compatible. Smart me.

Anyone need one for a good price? Will fit BMW's with out the LED mod.

Received it today!!!!!!

Despite taking a fairly long time to get the unit after placing my order, I have the following thoughts:

The unit seems to be very well made, and is working as described (no faults on my R1200GS so far!).

Durability remains to be seen, but I have heard of other inmates with units that have been in service for quite some time. I am optimistic about the longetivity. Again, it looks well made to me (and I work in electronics / telecom - I'm a bit of a geek that way).

The gentleman that I was dealing with at Road Rocketeer was helpful, however I did have to follow up myself - several times. I personally wasn't too bothered about this for the following reasons; I am used to working with contractors in my field of work, so following up with people on projects is what I do AND he was helpful and answered all of my questions when we did speak. I was able to get a hold of someone pretty much every time I called.

So...final conclusion?

-I like the product so far
-Hoping that it lasts as advertised (and as long as other inmates testimonials)
-Road Rocketeer seems to be slightly disorganized
-I was happy with the answers I got when we communicated
-I'm glad I bought my Brake! light.

Anyone heard from these guys recently?

They took my money on 9/11/2009 and after a phone call ('waiting for a part') I have not heard back from them. Tried emailing, tried a PayPal dispute. Anyone have any other names, numbers for these guys?

Their 800 number currently rings once and then gives the message 'Sorry, this voice mailbox is full'. Full of messages from other irate customers?

Welcome to the reality of this company! They are hot and cold, more cold than hot!

Good luck getting your product. Unfortunately, if you do, it will be a great product, unless it breaks, then you are screwed again!

Jim

PS If you are looking for more lighting, go with the www.p3lights.com they are great!

Bluhduh Beware of Road Rocketeer Products ...

After ordering their LED Taillight Upgrade 2 weeks ago, charges applied to my card, but till now, still no component delivered. Sent a couple emails, no response. Called their contact numbers, one number voicemail was full, the other number not in service. Directory assistence shows no listing, etc, etc.

Credit company says they'll reverse charges, and give them 30 days to deliver, which is good, but the lesson learned is to make sure they exist before taking the plunge. I read someone else in these forums recommended them so I thought I was safe but seems they dropped off the earth?

regards...

edit: I was checking out the other threads and discovered another just below, "Gizmo ---> Road Rocketeer" My bad.... Mods move this to that thread if wish, etc. (sorry) Still mad about this whole thing...
