Technical stuff; motor is all original with 24,xxx miles. Runs perfect. Internals are stock, but has a max 4-into-1 header and muffle (not an open baffle; nice sound to it but not too loud). Also installed a Dynatek eletronic ignition, which makes starting a piece of cake. Just recently serviced the carbs (cleaned thoroughly), changed the oil and reoiled the pod filters.

Cosmetic; fiberglass tank and seat combo from Benjie's cafe racer. Cost over $800 new, without paint. Painted to resemble a Norton manx. Frame, swingarm, fork lowers have all been powder coated. Passenger peg lugs have been removed and welded over. Also has some neato LED lights to light the tag. Hideous light bar has been removed and replaced with a neutral light and oil pressure light built into the tachometer.

Other stuff; progressive road shocks and heavy duty front springs make it a handler. Bridgestone spitfire tires have less than 2,000 miles and show hardly any wear. Bronze swingarm bushings and all balls steering head bearings have been installed as well. Low center of gravity makes it a blast in the corners.

Nit picky stuff; the fiberglass tank looks cool, but has one minor issue. The painted I hired did not use the correct primer, so it has some bubbling and blistering. Sealed it with caswell over 2 years ago and inside had held together nicely until recently; one spot on the stem/center of the tank has separated slightly. I believe if you reseal it and apply some weight to the area, it would reseal without difficulty. I will do this for you if you choose to purchase it; just buy the caswell and give me 3 days with the tank.

Other bugger is the starter button. When I bought it, the button fell inside the handlebar control. I have meant to buy a new one, but kick starts easy. The starter does work; most guys hook up an external switch. But, a career and laziness on my part has prevented me from performing this operation the last 3 years.

Included is a box of spare parts including some original stuff like the tank, rear fender, turn signals and a host of other things. Also have a set of clubman bars for those so inclined to ruin their wrists.

Clean FL title in my name and all of the manuals. Asking $3,500. Not too interested in trades unless you have a Husky TE310 or TE450 that is not beat to death. Would also consider throwing in my XR600 in a trade if it's a newer model.

Ok, ok, we can add some more incentive to the deal.

Also have a 1971/72/73/75 Yamaha XS650. The downlow;

Mechanical: 1971 motor with 750 Shell Thuett Kit, megacycle cam, balanced crank, lapped valves w/heavier springs, barnett clutch with heavy duty springs, 34mm Mikuni carbs with K&N air filters/extended intakes, 2 into 1 kerker/mac exhaust (such a sweet, sweet sound), stock electrics and battery less than a year old

Cosmetic: 1972 frame, chrome "Superbike" bars, powder-coated frame (Cadillac brown; welds were shaved down, very nice job many years ago), 1975 tank with the older two screw type petcocks, Bonneville rear fender and fiberglass front fender, gold pin-striping (not the best job, but neat for its age), stock seat from a 72, front drum from a 71 (dual leading shoe), small rear brake light with tag mount on the side

Has been with the same owner (my dad) since 1993. I've kind of become its caretaker in recent years. Runs very well and is a hoot to ride in a straight line.

Known issues (being upfront):
1) Base gasket does have a leak in the lower left hand side. Tried to seal with Yamabond and some other stuff from the outside. Worked for a while, but recently has started to leak again. Really needs to be sealed from the inside, but I haven't sealed it for the last 4 years, so another go may help greatly.

2) Tires are dry rotted and I would replace if you plan on riding any considerable distances (I've been riding it to work every other week or just a quick 20 mile ride just to keep it going the last 2 years).

3) Steering head bearings are original, and hence, are on their last leg. Taking your hands off the bars any speed over 20mph and it wobbles a bit. Otherwise, it's good. Swingarm bushings are original and still tight as a drum.

4) I recently replaced all the seals in the petcock. Have been working well, but the right side will dribble while riding it now and then. The main seal needs to be repositioned I believe.

This is a great retro ride for bikeweek or something to ride on a Sunday morning during riding season. With the 750 kit, it makes a noise like no other XS650. Still has the stock springs/shocks and is very comfortable to ride. Not a sport bike by any means, but does not cramp your hands or anything.

Also have a quarter fairing in matching brown with a bubble screen. Screen has a crack in it after unloading out of a friends van many years ago. So, it's been shelved since.

Clean FL title (as a 72). I love this thing, but we my dad and I have a garage full of bikes, and the CB and XS keep getting shuffed aside for other projects/rides.

Open to reasonable offers on the XS. Would make a package deal with the CB if you are so inclined (would really like to see them both end up in good hands).

I always thought the VX800 was a great idea: a shafty V-twin UJM, Suzuki's answer to the CB750. But what do I know? They weren't exactly a sales success, and don't bring much in the used market. Worth every bit of $1400, though
