My Gripe with My new F800

THE SEAT SUCKS! Anyone have any info in the TT seat? My dilemma is; Paying what I did for the BMW Brand. You would have to think BMW engineering and budget is far superior to TT. Is the design already the Best it could be? Am i going to lay down 5 to 6 hundred for the TT seat and have the same result? Any Info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wow. Really? After the Bandit, then the KLR seat, I'm in heaven.

I have never heard someone say the stock seat is great in any bike they ever owned. I have heard people tell me, they can live with it, but thats the way the bikes are built be it BMW/Aprilia/Honda/Yamaha

Yeah, this is the most comfortable seat of any bike I've owned. I have an AirHawk from my old Wee that's just been sitting on a shelf in my garage, but I have no plans to mount it on my F800. And I've sat on this seat for some long days. The longest was just under 800 miles.

Obviously, your butt must not have been what BMW had in mind when they designed the seat.

The only stock seats I have found unacceptable were on some earlier model KTM dirt bikes. I find the F8, 12GS, and HP2 stock seats to be great. Maybe there is something wrong with your ass.

No...The ass works fine. Not too big... not too small! I've ridden the GS12. Much better seat. The 800 puts my ass-cheek to sleep. Do you know if the TT is more padded?

Don't know about the TT, but "The Griz" put an aftermarket seat on his F8. Maybe he will chime in here. Did you per chance get the "low" seat option with your F8? I have never tried the low seat option. Maybe it is thin with respect to padding. Some dealers, like where I bought my F8, were pushing the low seat because they stocked up on a few. Maybe your dealer slipped on in on you.

I have not heard good things about TT seats, but if you can be patient Sargeat will have theirs out sometime this year and their's are always spot on. Also you will find you get used to it, kinda like riding a road bike(bicycle). Your ass does conform.

I unfortunately haven't done a stock seat upgrade or put an aftermarket seat on at all. I find the F800GS seat to be very comfortable. I am, however, ordering a sheepskin from Alaska Leather to take on my upcoming trip, just in case. It looks like this (johngil's bike):

Extra low seat available if someone can use it

Somehow I ended up with the low seat on my f800 gs. I do not like it. It sits me too low and too far back. Much less control off road. I tried moving the bars back with mv kit. Did not work. Would like to try stock normal high seat if anyone has one to get rid of. I will trade or buy. My low seat is available for a bargain! knickpool@aol.com
