Ok, I didn't feel comfortable going over to where the actual tag was, as there was a member of Lake Wale's finest sitting across the street.

Even with the cop there, I also wasn't very comfortable getting off of my bike in this part of town :P. Especially since I parked in an abandoned parking lot to get the shot that I did get.

So, uh, is this good enough?

If not, I'll go back again...with a friend this time...lol.

That's fine. All the required elements of a tag are in the shot. Man, you really must have been nervous there not to even get off your bike. Lake Wales doesn't seem that bad to me then again I'm usually just passing through.

To be fair to Lake Wales, I am a somewhat paranoid person. That's next to the main road in the town, but to get a shot like the original it requires one to go behind a building, hidden from the main drag. The biggest reason was that I had my work laptop on my luggage rack. It would've sucked to get it swiped, so I just stayed on the bike.

Anyhow, I'll try and set up a new tag soon .

For those wondering about the 4 corners, I have a mailbox where pics and receipts can be sent, CFL4, P.O. Box 208, Valrico, Fl 33595.

I was hoping to do the run this weekend just to get pictures of the tags to be used for approval, but family and other responsibilities always get in the way, as will a several week hiatus to the WNC mountains. Still looking for pins and/or stickers for the qualifiers, any input is appreciated.

My regulator rectifier blew out when riding around yesterday.

So, requesting an "extension" on my time to get a tag lol. No idea how long it'll take for me to get another R/R, and then find time to get another tag. Probably not till next weekend.

What sucks about this is that my bike is my workhorse....no other running transportation at the moment QQ.

for the 4 corners...

"I think using a modified version of the Iron Butt SS1000 ride rules would be a good place to start. Set a minimum and maximum time to completion, 2 or 3 different options for verifications at the corners (if someone decides to do a night ride for example) and have the tags remain in each corners map grid. Mileage doesn't count as long as you stay within the time frame. Single or group riders but everyone has to be in the same picture at the same spot at the same time for it to count.

Simple, easy rules to start and once it gets established and rolling we can add new levels."

I like this and I like the idea of permanent tag spots to start with, just to see if it works. I still like the 48 hour completion time idea, for those who'd like to make a weekend of it. Maybe separate pins or stickers for 1 day vs 2 day finishers? Now that I look at what I just wrote about 1 and 2 days, I don't think i like that idea so much. But, I'm open for any ideas.

Pete

I see no reason to not include the Four Corners Achievement Award on page one.
Let us know what you want to include and we'll make it a tag destination.

I think the 4-corners on page one is a keeper!

But I propose that we use the Boat House in Horseshoe beach instead of the police car. Someone can sell the police car and it can move, but the house shaped like a boat? I don't think that's going anywhere...

I also like the sticker idea... I just don't like pins...

I don't think there should be a time frame. I think it should just be a regular posting that includes all 4 spots but the bike has to be the same in each shot... ie: if you're riding a DR650 in one, the DR650 has to be in all of them...

By making a timeframe you'll limit the number of people even further... if you've been keeping score, there's not even a dozen of us playing this game on a semi-regular basis...

... that my .02...

... and on another note...

Good movement on the tags over the past few weeks! I didn't want to do anymore since I had 7 up on the board... now I have some new ones to go after!

Good point, the Boat House it will be! (I have no idea where that is, but I don't know where the police car is either!)

"I also like the sticker idea... I just don't like pins..."

The score is sticker 2, pin 0

"I don't think there should be a time frame. I think it should just be a regular posting that includes all 4 spots but the bike has to be the same in each shot... ie: if you're riding a DR650 in one, the DR650 has to be in all of them..."

On this one I think we do need a time frame, but we can make it anything we want. For instance, the North Carolina 4 corners ride has a time frame of 1 year. The 1 or 2 day time frame makes the ride a challenge, and maybe that's not what we want to do since TOR is not really a time/distance event like the IBA. A time frame, though, does give the rider an impetus to complete the event, as well as a reason to plan future rides to areas in the game. So, a weekend, a week, a month, 6 months, a year? Any preferences, anybody? Anybody? Bueller?

Oh, and for a sticker, my 5 year old grand-daughter came up with a great idea. How about a dinosaur superimposed over the state of Florida? We'd get the joke if no one else did!

BTW I got the LC8 on the bench on an engine stand. Cam chain stretch was so bad front cams jumped time and balancer shaft is hitting chain guide. If leak down test is good today I'll say the knocking noise was the balancer and throw a set of chains and guides @ it and be back in the game soon.
