Anyway, I kinda' got the gist of it but are there some written rules somewhere in this thread that I could review? I tried to do a search but couldn't find any rules. Also started going through the posts but waaaay too many.

Any help?
First, welcome to the fun Larry

It's really very simple. Read the first port in this thread for the "rules". Basically just find a unclaimed tag in the thread (first post has a list of them), find it and take a picture of the tag and your bike in the same shot. Now go find another location for a new tag to replace the one you just grabbed. When you get back home, post both pictures, the first to claim the tag and the second post for the new tag. Just scan a page or two of posts and I'm sure you'll see the logic of it.

Also on the first post is are links to the old tags, useful to help you to not repeat a tag.

Here's an example of a tag I just did;

FL Pepper posted this tag which was itself a replacement for a prior tag. I rode out on Moday and took this picture. Lastly, I posted the replacement tag.

Yes, I did read that. I guess I don't understand the terminology. What is a dinosaur? In posting the picture of the new tag, I assume you need to give the viewer enough identifying detail so they can find and ride to the tag? And...getting "Bruced" means someone beats you to the posting of a picture at the tag?

At some point, I'll pick u on the history of poor Bruce, who apparently screwed up....

Replacement for SR3 Draw Bridge

OK, I didn't see this old church in the tag list, so it's the replacement for SR3 Draw Bridge

135 years old

You don't need to find a dino. A dino is used to created a new tag "thread". Almost all the listed tags in the first post were created by someone finding a new dino, thus creating a new tag. BTW, I know where one is but haven't had time to go take a picture. I worry that someone will beat me to it

You're correct, getting "Bruced" is someone else beating you to the posting of the tag. I think I hold the record for closest "Bruce", 13 minutes if I remember. I don't know the history behind "Bruce", but I'd like to hear it myself.

As far as how much detail to give away in the replacement tag is up to you. My opinion, it's about the ride , not the tag. So I tend to provide plenty of location clues, a simple Google search should uncover one of my tags.

I'm slacking on posting a tag for the last Dino. Seems most of my riding lately has been out of bounds.

Great explanations. Thanks. I think I'm going to jump in this dance soon. Want to spend some more time reviewing other tags and getting more familiar with the protocol so I don't get anyone's nose out of joint..

White Oranges Tag

On my way to get the (Bob) White Oranges tag - (there's a 3rd building to the left with "BOB" on it),

I photographed it's replacement: Old St. Johns River Bridge
And then I came upon this on my way home: I didn't see the girl hit the mailbox and light post, but I arrived at the scene immediately after she did it, and I helped rip out the windshield end extricate her before cops or FD got there. (Residential area 25mph)

New thread candidate

Is this an acceptable "Dino with bike" pic for a thread starter?

If accepted, new tag is: Boat Ramp at New SR46 Bridge

If the St. Johns River bridge is the one that's almost across from the zoo, then it's already been used as a tag.

It's getting to the point where the obvious spots have all been had, we gotta start getting creative with our pics.
It's a lot of research, but the maps in my sig help when choosing new tags. It's great to have n00 peeps playing, though.
