West Harrison to Pemberton - Sunday May 24th
I'm thinking of riding West Harrison up to Pemberton on Sunday 24th May. Returning either via 99 or simply retracing the route backwards. Would be glad of some company so if anyone is interested in dong that route let me know. I'm on a 1200GSA so will not be out to set any speed records, just a nice steady pace. Planning on leaving the Sasquatch Inn around 8:00 am. Haven't gone further than the 60km mark on West Harrison on previous trips so any advice / recommendations regarding route & conditions would be appreciated.

Looks like myself and a couple of the boys from DSBC are good to go for the ride. If anyone wants to join us, we'll be leaving from the Sasquatch Inn at 8:00 am Sunday morning. Weather looks great so should be a great day for a ride.
For those not familiar with the Sasquatch Inn, its on Lougheed Hwy. http://www.sasquatchinn.ca/map.html Cheers Simon |

So being new to the KLR experience the first thing I do after buying the bike is join Advrider (of course there were hours of Googling and Youtubing prior to purchase).
After doing the Stave Lake ride last weekend I am wanting a little more of a distance challenge. I had heard about the Sasquatch Inn to Pemberton route and it sparked my interests. A quick search of the Forums brings up this thread and I was excited to join the group on Sunday 24th MAY!!!!! Two problems 1- 24th MAY is a Thursday!!! and, 2 - This thread is from 2009!!! How depressing. So, here are my questions. 1. How long is the ride? 2. Is it easy to get lost? Cheers

Pac_Man,
Its about 150 kms to Pemberton from the Sasquatch Inn. So long as you stay on the main road, you should have no issues finding your way, but as always be prepared ! Get a map, and ideally ride with a buddy. While the snow may have melted more yet, some local DSBC'ers recently made it only to the 68km mark: http://www.dualsportbc.com/forums/sh...light=Harrison |

Don't do it alone. Ron |

I may be taking a run up there soon, might go mid week, last time I did the entire length was a couple yrs ago on a xr650r w 5 gal tank, had plenty of fuel, keep an eye out on blind corners for logging trucks. if going alone plan for break down, flat, and bring a tent sleeping bag, a little food etc...
if you can go mid week w/ short notice I can let you know ( kind of why I ride a most on my own, self employed so ride when I can) as mentioned dualsportbc is a great site with others posting rides there. last summer I went up 40k or so, was 2 up on a quota, wasnt doing the whole length just a side trip from lunch at harrison, LOTS of quads up there, probably not so much upper I'd guess, several came around blind corners sideways taking my lane, Im sure some were drinking ( have nothing against booze thats for sure but combine it riding it can be a real problem) , if going in the summer months I'll stick to week days. really I like it when I see a wash out I can get by because it weeds out the traffic

When I went through last fall, the quads were raising hell on the lower portion.
Not enjoyable due to their antics. The upper sections were great. A side trip to Port Douglas was worth while, given it's history. |

Thanks for all the help guys. I did a short trip up to the 35km mark on Saturday. On the way up I only passed one other dualsport coming in the other direction (Yellow helmet and on a KLR I think). I stopped for some pics at 20 mile campgrounds.
I working Monday through Thursday so a mid week ride might not happen. I do want to try a little further next time around.

I know, I know a Sportbike site. But this guy has been dragging a few converted street riders in to the world of dirt. So far noob friendly, no major mishaps -- yet. This ride is in your neck of the woods. I may go on this ride also, just need to see how the schedule opens up.Also BC Dualsport is very good. |

“Sts'ailes Forest Service Road”
Harrison West FSR is now called “Sts'ailes Forest Service Road.” http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/dck/
From what I remember the road was good up until Doctors Bay (55km or so) from here there is about 7 km of loose gravel to get through, a little tough especially for the big GS. I sure glad I did this with Yatman or my bike might still be there. ![]() Sasquatch Route
