F800GS, Rider's 2009 Motorcycle of the Year
Isn't that special? I'm not sure what it really means ... I guess we can feel good about spending all that money. But then their one page announcement gave me a start stating " ... a 21- and 19-inch front/rear spoked wheel combination ..." jolted my memory. Didn't I just yesterday order a 21 and 17 TKC80's???

Hey, yeah! I just got my issue of rider yesterday and was happy to see my bike win the MOTY, because in my estimation that will solidify the bike in the market and prompt even more aftermarket support AND "BMW pride of motherhood", you know, so they don't just discontinue it like they did with the big 1200 naked enduro thing. And I also caught the wheel size typo, which made me wonder, is 19" even an accepted rear wheel size for anything?

"I guess we can feel good about spending all that money" in relation to what? I do not consider the bike expensive at all compared to its main competition(R1200GS, 990 Adventure). Compared to a Japo, its cheaper than a Varadero, and dearer than their smaller and far less capable stuff. Its only marginally more expensive than a 690R which is a trail bike and would be comparable on price if fitted with a bigger tank etc etc and still be "down" on engine!! "

I guess after just ordering the last of my list for upcoming trip, including a rear rack, tail bag, windscreen and TKC's while realizing I sill have to deal with the forks. Well, the price tag starts looks a bit different, but now thanks to Rider Magazine:
We're number one!

I have known since day one that the F800GS is the best bike in the world.
Riders have just confirmed it. Magic motorcycle!!

I have to say I used to think the 1200GS was the best bike I've ever ridden or owned... and now that I also have the 800... I'm not so sure anymore.. the 800 is fantastic overall bike.. great handling, smooooooth.. and a lot of fun!
