Do I have a R1200GS or GS/M?

Is there anywhere online where I can type in my VIN and find out if I have a GS or a GS/M? My bike is a 2007 and I guess they did a mid-year change. I bought a used Z-Technik V-Stream windshield and it doesn't quite fit. I guess they have a different part number for the GS verses GS/M I just don't know which one I have. There is no part number anywhere on the windshield, all I know is I need the other one. Thanks

In the case of R1200GS, the /M suffix means model year 2008 through current.

When they remain unmodified, these bikes can be recognized from a distance by the silver sheet-metal-clad tank side-panel leading-edges.

The R1200GS/M refers to the latest R1200GS, Facelift model from 2008 and on.

It depends of the date (month and year) that your bike went out of the production. I think (not sure at all) May is the clue month. before May/07 is a 1200GS, after May/07 you have a GS/M.

I think the date is printed in one plate of the bike, maybe the one on the chassis. If not, and better you should use a VIN decoder like this to find it: http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.htm

Good luck if yours is GS/M... mine is 07, but it is a GS only.

to answer your q. Just go to Chicago BMW and click on locate a part number. A page pops up where you can submit your vin. The page will tell you the model including /m.

I remember now, November is the month. May is for my bike. So, before november is a GS, after november is a GS/M.
