You probably remember this spot then. Add an extra hundred or so bikes, riders and tents to the scene and subtract about 35 years from the average age of the riders and bikes and it should look familiar. (Photo taken yesterday, out with the local Ulysses mob.)

Charlie Moreland Park, on Sunday Creek Road up near Kennilworth?

Site of the MTCQ Rainforest Rally for years.

This is the only pic I can find from there, 1980 I think.

I was at the first ever Rainforest Rally in 1977 & got the Longest Distance Sidecar trophy after riding from Perth with girlfriend on R75/6 & DJP chair.

The the following year I got the LD Sidecar again, with same outfit, but only rode from Brisbane (only other outfits there came from suburbs closer than me) with a German Shepherd dog as passenger.

Then in 1998 at the last ever Rainforest Rally, I got LD Solo after riding a R80 G/S from WA with my (smaller) dog as pillion. That rally was held further (west) up Sunday Creek Rd in a separate area as that main area just over the creek was too busy.

A beautiful spot for a rally, great listening to the bellbirds during the evenings & mornings.
