Madison, IN...Hammer Time!

This ride was organized by Kris_Kris in this thread.

We had quite the gathering at the local Wally World. 20+ riders.

This ford it was very slick! The water is always running over the concrete which is ideal for growing algae. We had to crawl with extreme caution. It was like riding on ice.

A near miss. Good catch.

Easy does it.

KTM DOWN!! Picking it up was a challenge. Hard to keep your footing.

TBC...

The lunch spot in Friendship, IN. Good Cod sammich.

This is where it got interesting. Riding across this ford at a pretty good pace, not seeing this huge hole...

...this is what happens. Dude hits hard. Lucky he didn't get hurt.

We ask a passerby if he has a hammer. He's in a Dodge, come on, that's a requirement, right? Hey, I own one, I should know. He has three varying sizes of sledge hammers....that should do.

The hammering ensues.

Time for more hammers.

To add insult to injury, while hammering the Beemer he clips his dampening valve on his fork shearing it off. Unfortunately his day was over.

A rider in the group was able to go get his trailer to give him a ride back to Terra Haute.

It was a little dusty but a great ride nonetheless. No one was hurt, only pride a few times. We covered about 110 miles on mostly gravel roads. Even got to see some Amish farming with draft horses. Fun times guys, see ya next time.

Actually, dumbass, helmets and body armor save lives. Loud pipes just annoy the neighbors.

Now I get to decide if I want to stick to the 19" or change to a 21" front rim. As an additional bonus I get to learn how to lace a wheel.

You might also notice that I used the bent finger to salute the bent rim.

I noticed that. I didn't want to make light of it, but since you mentioned it, what's the story there?

In all seriousness, I'm glad you're ok. You took a heck of a tumble.

When I was 7 or 8 riding down an escalator in a department store I was hanging my arm over the side, doing something stupid I'm sure, my finger got wedge in some type of bracing for the escalator glass walls. I don't remember all the details but my Mom says it was bloody mess, blood all over everything, skin ripped from the knuckle to the tip, visibly separated knuckle.

This happened in the seventies so we just went to hospital and had it fixed, stupid kid doing something stupid no law suit over unsafe escalator or anything you hear about today.

Thanks for the pictures I now have a new screen saver for work.

That sounds super painful. At least you were able to keep it. That would suck not to be able to shoot a bird.

Videos

Here are the video I shot at the Madison ride.

the first one is HY 160 on the way there.

I shot a lot at the start and the battery crapped out and my spare was dead so I don't have any of the last part of the ride.

I would 6 and 7 are the best.
