I would guess you'all are riding the TAT to Silverton. Did that a couple of years ago. Stayed at the Prospector Motel in Silverton and rode over to Moab to ride for a few days. Gotta get back there cause there are a bunch of areas I have not ridden there yet. You guys have fun!

Yea Tim that is exactly our plans, prospector hotel and all.

We rode the white rim today and apparently 10 years and 40 pounds makes a big difference. I sure didn't remember it being so rough nor so long. But on the plus side I had forgotten what fantastic views were along the way. One of the guys with us is from Holland and this is his first bike trip to America, What a joy to watch and listen as he tries to take all this area in. He keeps saying unbelievable over and over.

Made it back to Moab tonight after a good ride over several high passes out from silverton. Yesterday we rode the TAT backwards into Silverton and you get to see all the folks riding it the correct way. We met around 10 riders in that one section. One more day tomorrow riding west through several canyons then its time to head home.

Pretty sure I blew the seals in the final drive --ran her pretty hard coming back from breakfast -faster and longer than I should have--matter of fact ran too hard going to breakfast too

Haven't had time to look at it in depth but pretty sure my diagnosis is correct
she will top out at XXX-fast enough for me

Just had to share this conversation with yall:

"I need help. I can't figure out these Smart-Straps."
Me: "they are just a brand name for normal ratchet straps. What's the problem?"
"Well I cant figure them out."
Me: "hook both ends, pull the slack out of the loose strap end and ratchet away."
"I tried but it pulls the wrong direction.... do you think it is because I am left handed? ??"

:slap: LOL

Maybe next year I can get my son to do that ride with me. That would be a hoot! I bet that is pretty neat hearing the Hollander comment on the landscape. I compare it to being on the moon! It is out of this worldly.
