I didn't start riding until I moved up to Starkville, so I can't help you out much in that regard.

I ride a 650 vstrom. I'm kinda embarrassed to say the I haven't ridden much other than street in the last 6000 or so miles. The strom is much happier that way, but I need to get out and hit some dirt roads.

Maybe we should look at a Mississippi get together at some point. There are more of us here than I realized.

When you were in Jackson, where did you ride? I have ridden the back roads of Hinds county. But that has become boring. I klike to mix some offroad trail riding in too. In case you didn't know, Got Gear Motorsports in Ridgeland sponsors a bike night ride the third Thursday of each month, weather permitting. Leave the shop at 6:30 pm and ride for about an hour and end up at a local watering hole for some bench racing, etc. Got Gear springs for some appetizers and soft drinks. I would also be up for a get together ride sometime.

The sales guys were telling me about bike nights and I jokingly said I didn't think those guys would let a dual sport follow them around.

I'm off to find me a good mesh jacket this morning before I get out on the road too much. Once I get a little more experience on this KLR, I'd be up for a meet or something. Might even try to start a MS Tag-O-Rama!

I have been looking on google earth. The Elton area seems to be a good dirt road ride, provided it is not fenced. All the way between Byram and Elton Rd. to the Pearl River.

Well every entrance is blocked by gates. Hunting clubs. But, seek and you shall find. I found a route into the area, and a abandoned railway bed.
Rode it for about 1 mile in each direction. Thrilling, sort of like time travel.
Also, found some more interesting areas north of Wyndale Rd to Byram, along the current railway, that is used today.

I know a few good dirt roads. Call me 601 856 6823. I live in Madison but can meet up anywhere. I'm retired so I can ride most anytime.

Took my first real ride on the KLR today. Went from Old Fannin across Pelahatchie Bay, up old 471 and across 43 to Canton. Made it about 50 miles doing the break in type stuff.

Got home and noticed tag hanging off... I had lost one of the tag bolts!!!

Ran to Lowe's and grabbed a couple of replacements.

I can't believe I didn't see you. We went up the Trace to 43, back on 471 and across the Rez. Lot of eye candy at Overlook point.

There as a bunch of bikes out today. Either I am noticing them more or everyone was out today. I passed 3 bikes on 471 or 43 (going the other way). Now I have to decide if I'd rather go play on the boat or the bike to chase the eye candy!!

I need to get a couple of ADV stickers for the bike.

I rode some of those roads a while back. Had a lot of fun and intend to do it again within the next week or two.
