What can I say. BW knows me pretty well.

I prefer Whiskey. Good ole southern Whiskey.

I'm a bit out of practice. Have not had a glass in several weeks due to all this illness and being on medication. Hoping to be clear of meds by this weekend so I can start training for the rally.

Well my middle daughter decided today that the side door on our van with the wheel chair lift didn't need to open any more so she turned to early at the bank and crushed the lower hinge back and in a good inch. also bent both doors up nicely. o did I forget to say Liz was in there in her chair? So the door wont open up and we cant use the lift to get her out. I had to just yank on the back door to get it open enough to get her out. now my Freaking van is bent up and will probably be a lot of cast to fix. Maybe I could sale the child for enough to fix the damage.

Oie... of all the cages i have she had to pick that one to bend up.

I wish it was going to be that easy to fix. My brother-in-law who's a body man is going to come look at it tomorrow. like i said the body is crushed in and back. I figure that's a part of the van that will have to be cut out and replaced to fix. i'll find out tomorrow.

What about taking the door off, putting a shackle on the hinge and pulling on it with a come-a-long, maybe while applying heat? Of course if you don't apply heat, your paint will thank you.

Mississippi Hill Country ride

Good Day Mississippi riders,

My search Foo doesn't turn up any info on any of you fellas riding Sam's north/south route starting/ending from Jackson.
Got some interest from my fellow Pensacola Area Riders to give this a go sometime in the winter and before making my order for the routes, I wanted to ask you people what was your take on the route.

Plan on doing it sometime in this winter or early spring next year. Most likely, depending on weather doing it on one of those 3 day weekend holidays.
We do have some pretty day's in the winter.

Debating on taking the VStrom with Michalin Anakee II's or the DRZ with knobs depending on yawwls thoughts.

Thanks Fella's!

I've ridden the whole route on my KLR and the southern half on my Wee. There is only one section of abandoned road where I wished I was on the KLR with full knobbies. In winter, there is not enough daylight to do the whole route, unless you really fly. Also, there are hunting clubs all along the way, so you will run into ATV's and trucks around every corner.
That abandoned section will have mud in winter. You will also go through lots of sand. If you are not comfortable doing sand and mud, take the DR. That's a lot of personal of reference.

^^^^^ What he said.

Especially the part about not having enough daylight to run it in the winter unless you're really moving. If I had the choice of a 'strom or DRZ, I'd take the DRZ.

Thanks for those comments.
Anything else yawwl can remember, lemme know!

I rode with Nanohicup and Dirtrob (riders from Mobile) in November 09 and yawwl are right about running out of daylight.
After getting a little turned around and separated, we only made it to Granada Ms. and spent the night. Got up the next morning (sun) and Rob and I hit the Interstate back to Jackson Ms. and home.
Nano continued on to Helena Ark cause he had the time off to do it.

Bout forgot about that little detail about not having enough daylight, and that changes EVERYTHING about when we'll give it a go.

It is my understanding that Sam's route has changed a bit to eliminate some of that pavement at the beginning. Is that correct?

Thanks again

I don't know if he changed the original route, but Sam did add a return route (north to south) that I believe is new for this year.
