My personal best

I rode the entire 1,070 miles yesterday from Albuquerque, NM to my house in MS. Right at 16 hours with a lunch break and Dallas rush hour traffic. Probably wont go to trouble of submitting anything for an iron butt pin. And yes I am at work today and came in on time.

Oh and that 1,000+ mile day came after a week of riding two 800 mile days and hundreds of miles in back country Utah plus sleeping in a tent for four nights.

Now that's a full week and then some, glad everything went well.

Thought someone would never ask. It did really well, I mean I rode with 250's and 400's and was considered the pig group of the bunch. There were a few GSA's, KTM990's, Tiger 800 then the Tenere. I stayed right behind the days group leader on both days rides as did trailblazer. We went through some rough stuff and I'm usually not scared to ride through or down anything. I was the first big pig bike to bail off down that one terrifying rocky downhill. There was no decision making I just cranked it and went lead stupid dog on the group. My thought was it would be painful to watch others first and possibly screw with my mind. Btw you can't cut the abs easily on the tenere but in its defense the system is really good. I made it down (wasn't pretty and no style points) and set the bar early. I never needed any help crossing anything or turning it around. I bashed the Altrider player a few times and it did its job. The bike really handles good even in tighter sections while standing, well balanced machine. The traction control is only good on surfaces that you don't have to climb anything. There is way too much power to get going again up rocky slopes or tight switchbacks one must be good on the clutch and balance.

These washed out sections were not the easiest to cross as usual a pic does it no justice. I went fast on this one the last 10' and really bashed the plate there. No damage.

I did put my seat in the low position for better footing. As far as slabbing it is a top fog IMO. It flat eats miles. Seat not to bad with an Alaska leather seat pad.

Hell I could do it again. Last 100 miles were the worst due to fatigue and darkness. Fuel range on the thing is outstanding, I took the 1 gal rotopax can and it still has trailblazers gallon of gas in it.

I could make a short not picky list of things Yamaha could improve on but for the most part, best bike I have ever owned to date.

You are much tougher than I am. What was the total miles in how many days?

My list is really short.

1) Make it easier to get the last half gallon of fuel in the tank.

2)...

Sweet trip Roy.

Great report on you and the S10, but did you come back by your self or did the other two follow close behind..

David total trip was 4226 miles. I was gone 8 days. Bob and Greg are still coming home. I initially left early due to work but got a voicemail message late due to weak cell coverage that my mother was to have back surgery this weds so its a good move for me to jet home. Basically no sleep while camping with the drinking and staying up late. You know how it goes. All the mileage in UT was basically all off road. That's why it didn't accumulate as high. We toured up through AR to get to the good parts of N NM mountains. OK was wet and stank, I'm about done with beef after that stench.
